A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PASCAGOULA 1
HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH LORENZO WRIGHT 2
UPON WINNING THEIR FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE SCHOOL'S HISTORY. 3
WHEREAS, the Pascagoula High School Boys Basketball Team are 4
the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 5
6A state basketball champions after accomplishing an extraordinary 6
2025-2026 season as dominant contenders with a 28-6 overall 7
record, winning the final 18 games of the season; and 8
WHEREAS, the championship 56-54 win over Terry High School is 9
also historic because it is the first-ever basketball championship 10
title that Pascagoula High School has won since the school's 11
existence; and 12
WHEREAS, this impressive team also dominated district-wide by 13
ending the district season undefeated with a record of 12-0; and 14
WHEREAS, this historic win is a proud milestone for 15
Pascagoula High School and the surrounding community, reflecting 16
the dedication of student-athletes, coaches, families and 17
supporters who stood behind the team throughout the season; and 18

WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Lorenzo Wright, 19
the team demonstrated discipline, resilience and unity from the 20
opening tip-off of the season to the final buzzer of the 21
championship game, setting a standard of excellence both on and 22
off the court; and 23
WHEREAS, Coach Wright's guidance is establishing a culture of 24
preparation, accountability and competitive success within the 25
program; and 26
WHEREAS, stand-out senior Blake Nettles won the Class 6A Mr. 27
Basketball for the State of Mississippi; and 28
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 29
recognize and commend the achievements of student-athletes who 30
bring distinction to their schools and communities through 31
discipline, teamwork and excellence: 32
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 33
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 34
commend and congratulate the Pascagoula High School Boys 35
Basketball Team and Head Coach Lorenzo Wright upon winning the 36
Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 6A 37
State Championship and having an undefeated district record. 38
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 39
furnished to Head Coach Lorenzo Wright, to the administration of 40
Pascagoula High School and to the members of the Capitol Press 41
Corps. 42
