A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING JON GREY MORRISSON OF 1
WEST UNION HIGH SCHOOL FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ATHLETIC 2
ACCOMPLISHMENTS. 3
WHEREAS, Jon Grey Morrisson, a senior at West Union High 4
School in Myrtle, Mississippi, has demonstrated exceptional skill, 5
teamwork and determination, both on the basketball court and on 6
the baseball field, during his high school athletic career; and 7
WHEREAS, in 2025, Mr. Morrisson was recognized for his 8
standout performance during the 2025 baseball season, which 9
included a .303 batting average and a 2.38 ERA with 54 strikeouts, 10
and he was named Mr. Baseball as the 2025 Mississippi High School 11
Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 1A Player of the Year; and 12
WHEREAS, additionally, in 2026, Mr. Morrisson was named Mr. 13
Basketball as the MHSAA Class 1A Basketball Player of the Year, as 14
he averaged a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds; and 15
WHEREAS, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Mr. Morrisson signed 16
with Itawamba Community College to continue his amazing baseball 17
career, and he was surrounded by his family, both blood and 18

school, as well as his coaches from the respective teams as he put 19
pen to scholarship; and 20
WHEREAS, throughout his baseball and basketball seasons of 21
play with the West Union Eagles, Mr. Morrisson played with clear 22
eyes, a full heart and unimaginable amounts of fortitude, and his 23
mental stamina and athletic prowess never wavered from the moment 24
he first hustled onto both the court and the field, as he 25
outlasted, outplayed and ultimately overpowered his opponents; and 26
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 27
recognize and commend excellence, especially that displayed by Jon 28
Grey Morrisson, who has brought honor to West Union High School 29
and to the State of Mississippi: 30
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 31
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 32
recognize and commend Jon Grey Morrisson for his outstanding 33
athletic accomplishments, and extend best wishes for continued 34
success in all his future endeavors. 35
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 36
furnished to Jon Grey Morrisson and to the members of the Capitol 37
Press Corps. 38
