HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 123
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING KAYLLIS WALKER FOR 1
HER EXCEPTIONAL ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENTS, ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND 2
OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP AS A MEMBER OF THE LAUREL HIGH SCHOOL LADY 3
GOLDEN TORNADOES 2026 MHSAA CLASS 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP BASKETBALL 4
TEAM. 5
WHEREAS, Kayllis Walker, a distinguished senior and standout 6
student-athlete at Laurel High School, has etched her name among 7
the most accomplished players in program history through her 8
unwavering commitment to excellence, leadership and team success, 9
and the Mississippi House of Representatives takes great pride in 10
recognizing young scholars and athletes whose dedication, 11
discipline and perseverance exemplify the highest standards of 12
excellence both on and off the court; and 13
WHEREAS, during her remarkable high school career, Kayllis 14
Walker played an instrumental role in leading the Laurel High 15
School Lady Golden Tornadoes to the pinnacle of success, 16
culminating in the 2026 MHSAA Class 5A State Championship, 17
solidifying her legacy as a cornerstone of one of the program's 18
most celebrated eras; and 19

WHEREAS, her dominance on the court is reflected in an 20
extraordinary list of accolades, including multiple District 21
Championships, Final Four appearances, and back-to-back State 22
Championship titles, while earning repeated recognition as 23
District Most Valuable Player, District Offensive Most Valuable 24
Player and State Championship Most Valuable Player; and 25
WHEREAS, Walker's individual excellence has been further 26
recognized through her selection as a two-time Dandy Dozen 27
honoree, as well as being named 5A Miss Basketball, distinguishing 28
her as one of the premier high school basketball players in the 29
State of Mississippi; and 30
WHEREAS, her impact in championship play was undeniable, 31
earning Most Valuable Player honors in the State Championship 32
game, a testament to her poise, leadership and ability to perform 33
at the highest level when it matters most; and 34
WHEREAS, beyond her athletic achievements, Kayllis has 35
demonstrated an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, 36
earning recognition as a Principal's List scholar while also 37
pursuing dual enrollment studies at Jones College, reflecting her 38
diligence and preparation for future success; and 39
WHEREAS, her well-rounded character is further evidenced by 40
her active involvement in extracurricular and service-oriented 41
organizations, including volleyball, tennis, Student Council, Key 42
Club and HOSA, embodying the principles of leadership, service and 43
community engagement; and 44

ST: Kayllis Walker; commend and congratulate
upon athletic and academic achievements.
WHEREAS, in recognition of her outstanding talents and future 45
potential, Walker has signed a letter of intent to continue her 46
academic and athletic career at the University of Louisiana at 47
Lafayette, where she is expected to make an immediate and lasting 48
impact at the collegiate level while pursuing a degree in nursing; 49
and 50
WHEREAS, throughout her journey, Kayllis has exemplified 51
humility, resilience and determination, serving as a role model to 52
her peers and an inspiration to aspiring student-athletes across 53
the State of Mississippi; and 54
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 55
honor and recognize young leaders whose achievements bring pride 56
to their schools, communities and the State of Mississippi: 57
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 58
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 59
commend and congratulate Kayllis Walker for her exceptional 60
athletic accomplishments, academic excellence and invaluable 61
contributions as a member of the Laurel High School Lady Golden 62
Tornadoes 2026 MHSAA Class 5A State Championship Basketball Team, 63
and extend best wishes for continued success in all her future 64
endeavors. 65
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 66
furnished to Kayllis Walker and to the members of the Capitol 67
Press Corps. 68
