HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 128
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING PAMELA MOODY FOR 1
BEING NAMED THE 2025–2026 OUTSTANDING MUSIC EDUCATOR FOR 2
MISSISSIPPI BY THE NATIONAL FEDERATION OF STATE HIGH SCHOOL 3
ASSOCIATIONS. 4
WHEREAS, Pamela Moody, the Choral Director at Jim Hill High 5
School, has spent more than two decades helping scholars find 6
their voices, and now her work is being recognized on a national 7
stage; and 8
WHEREAS, Mrs. Moody has been named a 2025–2026 Outstanding 9
Music Educator for Section 3 (Mississippi) by the National 10
Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), and this 11
outstanding honor places her among a select group of performing 12
arts educators nationwide who are recognized for excellence, 13
leadership and lasting impact; and 14
WHEREAS, each year, NFHS honors outstanding educators across 15
music, speech and debate, and theatre, and for the 2025–2026 16
school year, only eight high school music educators nationwide 17
were selected for section-level recognition, and Mrs. Moody 18
represents Mississippi in Section 3; and 19

WHEREAS, Mrs. Moody's career with Jackson Public Schools 20
spans more than 20 years, beginning at Siwell Middle School and 21
continuing at Jim Hill High School, where her choral ensembles 22
consistently earn superior ratings at district, state, and 23
national competitions, and colleagues credit her success to high 24
expectations, intentional instruction and an unwavering belief in 25
her scholars; and 26
WHEREAS, with an influence that extends well beyond her own 27
classroom, Mrs. Moody serves as High School Choral Division Chair 28
for Jackson Public Schools and District VI Chair for the 29
Mississippi Music Educators Association, and she mentors future 30
educators, conducts honor choirs, and leads professional 31
development workshops for choral directors across the state; and 32
WHEREAS, Mrs. Moody holds advanced degrees in music education 33
and educational leadership and was named Mississippi Music 34
Educator of the Year in 2025, and as she is known for her 35
professionalism, artistry, and service, she continues to elevate 36
music education while creating spaces where scholars are 37
challenged, supported and inspired; and 38
WHEREAS, this national recognition reflects not only Mrs. 39
Moody's dedication to her craft, but also the strength of arts 40
education within Jackson Public Schools, and for her scholars and 41
colleagues alike, her leadership is a reminder that excellence, 42
when paired with purpose, has the power to resonate far beyond the 43
stage; and 44

ST: Pamela Moody; commend for being named 2025-
2026 Outstanding Music Educator for Mississippi
by the NFHS.
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 45
honor outstanding Mississippi educators, especially those such as 46
Mrs. Moody, whose dedication and leadership bring honor to the 47
State of Mississippi: 48
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 49
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 50
recognize and commend Pamela Moody for being named the 2025–2026 51
Outstanding Music Educator for Mississippi by the National 52
Federation of State High School Associations, and extend best 53
wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors. 54
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 55
furnished to Pamela Moody and to the members of the Capitol Press 56
Corps. 57
