HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 135
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE TISHOMINGO 1
COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL LADY BRAVES BASKETBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH JOHN 2
STRICKLAND UPON WINNING THE 2026 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL 3
ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS 4A STATE BASKETBALL 4
CHAMPIONSHIP. 5
WHEREAS, the Tishomingo County High School Lady Braves 6
Basketball Team completed an outstanding 2025-2026 season by 7
capturing the Mississippi High School Activities Association 8
(MHSAA) Class 4A State Basketball Championship, finishing the 9
season with an impressive 28-2 overall record; and 10
WHEREAS, the Lady Braves demonstrated dominance throughout 11
the postseason, winning all five playoff contests by an average 12
margin of 26 points, reflecting their discipline, preparation and 13
superior level of play against elite competition; and 14
WHEREAS, the team competed against one of the most 15
challenging schedules in the State of Mississippi, securing 16
victories over three of the top 10 teams and eight of the top 25 17
teams, further solidifying their status as one of the premier 18
basketball programs in the state; and 19

WHEREAS, the Lady Braves showcased exceptional performance in 20
the championship game, converting 27 of 30 free throws, a display 21
of precision and composure that has been recognized as one of the 22
most outstanding free throw shooting performances in championship 23
history; and 24
WHEREAS, the Lady Braves were led by an exceptional group of 25
student-athletes, including starters Abbi Reed, Chloe Glidewell, 26
Kazli Timbes, Claire Ray and Meg Moore, whose leadership, 27
experience and talent anchored the team's performance throughout 28
the season; and 29
WHEREAS, additional team members Arlei Cummings, Ashlyn 30
Butler, Madi Durham, Ansley Feltman, Addie Barber, Keyorah 31
Clemons, Chloe Crum, Katie Methvin and Madison McCullom 32
contributed to the team's depth and success, while managers Mia 33
McCallus and Bella Houston, along with statistician Matthew 34
Wilson, provided valuable support behind the scenes; and 35
WHEREAS, the success of the Lady Braves was guided by Head 36
Coach John Strickland, who, in his first year leading the program, 37
achieved the remarkable distinction of winning a state 38
championship, and was duly recognized as the Region 1-4A Coach of 39
the Year; and 40
WHEREAS, Coach Strickland was supported by a dedicated 41
coaching staff, including Assistant Coaches Logan Lyles, Cory 42
Glidewell and Tanissa Jeffries, whose leadership and commitment 43

contributed to the team's development and championship success; 44
and 45
WHEREAS, the Lady Braves established a remarkable home-court 46
legacy, with senior leaders Abbi Reed and Chloe Glidewell 47
completing their careers with a perfect 63-0 record at home, while 48
Kazli Timbes, Claire Ray and Meg Moore compiled an equally 49
impressive 46-0 home record during their tenure; and 50
WHEREAS, the team captured its sixth consecutive Region 1-4A 51
Championship, underscoring a sustained period of excellence and 52
dominance within regional competition; and 53
WHEREAS, individual accolades further distinguished this 54
championship team, including Meg Moore being named the 2025 Miss 55
4A Basketball, Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year and Most 56
Valuable Player of the championship game, while Kazli Timbes was 57
named the 2026 Miss 4A Basketball and Region 1-4A Defensive Player 58
of the Year; and 59
WHEREAS, Claire Ray was named Region 1-4A Offensive Player of 60
the Year, Chloe Glidewell received the MHSAA 4A Scholar-Athlete 61
Award, and all five starters, Reed, Glidewell, Timbes, Ray and 62
Moore — were selected to the Region 1-4A First Team; and 63
WHEREAS, several players earned additional statewide 64
recognition, including Kazli Timbes' selection to the 65
Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game and Claire Ray's selection to 66
the Mississippi North/South All-Star Game, further highlighting 67
the exceptional talent within the program; and 68

ST: Tishomingo County High School Lady Braves
Basketball Team; commend upon winning 2026 MHSAA
Class 4A State Championship.
WHEREAS, the achievements of the Tishomingo County High 69
School Lady Braves Basketball Team reflect not only athletic 70
excellence, but also the dedication, teamwork and perseverance of 71
its players, coaches, families and the broader Tishomingo County 72
community; and 73
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 74
recognize and commend student-athletes whose discipline, 75
commitment and success bring honor and distinction to their 76
schools and communities: 77
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 78
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 79
commend and congratulate the Tishomingo County High School Lady 80
Braves Basketball Team and Head Coach John Strickland upon winning 81
the 2026 MHSAA Class 4A State Basketball Championship, and extend 82
best wishes for continued success in future seasons. 83
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 84
furnished to Head Coach John Strickland on behalf of the Lady 85
Braves Basketball Team and to the members of the Capitol Press 86
Corps. 87
