A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING COACH GREGG PERRY 1
UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS ATHLETIC DIRECTOR AT 2
GERMANTOWN HIGH SCHOOL. 3
WHEREAS, after 30 years of exceptional service, Coach Gregg 4
Perry will be retiring at the end of the 2025-2026 school year; 5
and 6
WHEREAS, Coach Perry has been at Germantown High School for 7
15 years and served as the athletic director for the past five 8
years, but before joining Germantown, he spent his coaching career 9
at Madison Central High School for 10 years as Head Baseball 10
Coach, two years at Winona High School as Head Baseball Coach and 11
Assistant Football Coach, and three years prior as the Pitching 12
Coach at Madison Central; and 13
WHEREAS, during his time at Germantown, Coach Perry has 14
coached golf, football and baseball and the men's golf teams have 15
won five state championships in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019, 16
and seven district championships from 2012 through 2019, and the 17

women's golf team won the Class II State Championship in 2015, 18
2017 and 2018; and 19
WHEREAS, in 2018, Coach Perry's girls golf team won the first 20
ever 5A State Championship, and they also won six straight 21
district championships from 2014 through 2019; and 22
WHEREAS, while at Madison Central, Coach Perry's baseball 23
teams won nine district championships, five north state 24
championships, and two state championships; and 25
WHEREAS, Coach Perry was named Jackson Metro Coach of the 26
Year in 2002 and 2009, and selected to coach the High School 27
All-Star Game in 2005, and in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019, he was 28
chosen as Coach of the Year for the Mississippi Association of 29
Coaches and the Clarion Ledger Mississippi Preps Coach of the Year 30
in 2015, 2018 and 2019; and 31
WHEREAS, additionally, in 2015 and 2016, Coach Perry was 32
chosen as the National Federation of High School Coaches Coach of 33
the Year for the State of Mississippi, and in 2023, he was 34
inducted into the Crossroad Diamond Club Hall of Fame, and in 35
2025, he was named Athletic Administrator of the Year by 36
Mississippi Athletic Administrators Association, and he compiled a 37
coaching record of 322 wins and 81 losses in his career as a Head 38
Baseball Coach; and 39
WHEREAS, Coach Perry is a 1996 graduate of Belhaven College 40
and East Central Community College, where he played both baseball 41
and golf, and he is married to the former Diann Ingram of 42

Philadelphia, Mississippi, and they have a son named Matthew who 43
works at East Central Community College as the Head Golf Coach; 44

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 46
recognize and commend outstanding Mississippi educators, 47
especially those such as Coach Gregg Perry, whose dedication and 48
service brings honor to Germantown High School and to the State of 49
Mississippi: 50
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 51
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 52
recognize and commend Coach Gregg Perry upon the occasion of his 53
retirement as Athletic Director at Germantown High School, and 54
express sincere wishes for continued success in his lighter days 55
ahead. 56
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 57
furnished to Coach Gregg Perry and to the members of the Capitol 58
Press Corps. 59
