GENTLEMAN FROM TAYLORSVILLE, FORMER REPRESENTATIVE BLAINE H. "BO" 3
EATON II. 4
WHEREAS, the honorable and distinguished Gentleman from 5
Taylorsville, Representative Blaine H. "Bo" Eaton II, concluded a 6
remarkable and impactful tenure as a member of the Mississippi 7
House of Representatives, having faithfully served the citizens of 8
House District 79 from 1996 through 2016, marking 20 years of 9
dedicated and exemplary legislative service in the hallowed halls 10
of the Mississippi State Capitol; and 11
WHEREAS, Representative Eaton, a native of Taylorsville, 12
Mississippi, is son of the late, Mr. E. Howard Eaton, and Mrs. 13
Jimmie King Eaton, a proud graduate of Taylorsville High School, 14
Jones Junior College and Mississippi State University, and a 15
product of the strong values instilled within his community, which 16
laid the foundation for a lifetime of service, leadership and 17
commitment to the advancement of his fellow Mississippians; and 18

WHEREAS, he has long been recognized as a devoted public 19
servant, businessman and community leader, whose professional and 20
civic endeavors were rooted in a steadfast commitment to improving 21
the quality of life for the citizens of his district and this 22
great state; and 23
WHEREAS, prior to and during his legislative service, 24
Representative Eaton distinguished himself as a successful 25
businessman and leader within the forestry and logging industry, 26
working as a logger and farmer, and earning respect throughout his 27
profession for his work ethic, integrity and deep understanding of 28
Mississippi's agricultural and natural resource economy; and 29
WHEREAS, upon his election to the Mississippi House of 30
Representatives in 1995 and his subsequent swearing-in in 1996, 31
Representative Eaton embraced the solemn responsibility of public 32
office with purpose and resolve, diligently advocating for 33
legislation, policies and initiatives that would enhance economic 34
opportunity, protect natural resources and strengthen rural 35
communities across the State of Mississippi; and 36
WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished tenure, Representative 37
Eaton served with exceptional leadership as Chairman of the House 38
of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Committee, before being tapped as 39
Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, where he was 40
instrumental in shaping policies that supported Mississippi's 41
agricultural industry, forestry management and conservation 42
efforts, while also fostering innovation and sustainability within 43

one of the state's most vital economic sectors, in addition to 44
serving on the following committees: Apportionment and Elections; 45
Appropriations; Conservation and Water Resources; Game and Fish; 46
Labor; Oil, Gas and Other Minerals; Public Health and Human 47
Services; Public Utilities; Select Committee on Fiscal Stability; 48
Transportation; and Ways and Means, where his thoughtful insight 49
and practical experience provided invaluable contributions to the 50
legislative process; and 51
WHEREAS, Representative Eaton played a significant role in 52
advancing major economic development initiatives that have had a 53
lasting impact on the State of Mississippi, including his support 54
of landmark legislation and projects such as reforestation 55
efforts, which culminated with the establishment of the 56
Reforestation Tax Credit, the recruitment of major manufacturing 57
investments, including the Nissan automotive project, and the 58
advancement of the Mississippi Investment Act, the transformative 59
Mississippi Adequate Education Program and Vision 21, which 60
expanded Mississippi's four-lane highway system, all of which have 61
contributed to job creation, economic growth and long-term 62
prosperity for the state; and 63
WHEREAS, beyond his legislative accomplishments, 64
Representative Eaton remained steadfast in his commitment to his 65
district, consistently engaging with his constituents, 66
understanding their needs and serving as a trusted voice for the 67
people of Smith, Jasper, Jones and Covington Counties, ensuring 68

that their concerns were represented with clarity and conviction; 69
and 70
WHEREAS, his service to the State of Mississippi was further 71
complemented by his involvement in civic, agricultural and 72
community organizations, including his affiliation with the Lions 73
Club, the Mississippi Cattlemen's Association, as a Scottish Rite 74
Mason and other community-based initiatives, through which he 75
worked to promote the interests of agriculture, business and rural 76
development; and 77
WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, Representative Eaton earned 78
the respect and admiration of his colleagues for his steady 79
leadership, practical wisdom and unwavering dedication to the 80
institution of the Legislature, consistently conducting himself 81
with honor, humility and a spirit of cooperation that transcended 82
differences for the greater good of the state; and 83
WHEREAS, the members of the House of Representatives will 84
forever cherish the bond and shared commitment to public service 85
forged with Representative Eaton over the course of his two 86
decades of service, recognizing that his contributions have left 87
an indelible mark upon this body and the State of Mississippi; and 88
WHEREAS, throughout his years of public service, 89
Representative Eaton was supported and sustained by the unwavering 90
love and encouragement of his family, whose sacrifices and 91
steadfast presence allowed him to fulfill the demanding 92
responsibilities of legislative service while remaining grounded 93
