A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE DISTINGUISHED AND MERITORIOUS 1
CAREER OF MADISON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT TED POORE 2
UPON THE SPECIAL OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT. 3
WHEREAS, on June 30, 2026, Superintendent Ted Poore is 4
retiring from his position at the helm of administrative 5
leadership for the Madison County School District after dedicating 6
more than 40 years of his illustrious career in education to this 7
great Magnolia State; and 8
WHEREAS, Superintendent Poore is a graduate of Delta State 9
University, where he received his bachelor's and master's degrees, 10
and he diligently continued his educational pursuits at 11
Mississippi College, ultimately earning a degree in educational 12
leadership; and 13
WHEREAS, throughout his 28 years of service to the students, 14
faculty and staff of the Madison County School District, 15
Superintendent Poore has worn many hats, serving as a teacher, 16
coach, counselor and school administrator before taking on the 17
role of superintendent; and 18

WHEREAS, Superintendent Poore was an assistant principal at 19
Rosa Scott Middle School, later ascending to the position of 20
principal, and his legacy and indelible impact on the school was 21
immortalized when the road that leads to Rosa Scott's campus was 22
given the name Poore's Pass in his honor; and 23
WHEREAS, setting a high standard for all who would follow, 24
Superintendent Poore served as the first principal of Madison 25
Middle School and the founding principal of Germantown High 26
School; and 27
WHEREAS, Superintendent Poore further excelled in his role as 28
the head of school of Park Place Christian Academy, and he devoted 29
himself to administering the state's accreditation system as a 30
member of the Commission on School Accreditation for the 31
Mississippi Department of Education, a position he held for 10 32
years; and 33
WHEREAS, with invaluable experience under his belt, 34
Superintendent Poore seamlessly stepped into his new role as 35
superintendent nearly two years ago, ready to guide the school 36
district in its efforts to motivate, educate and graduate students 37
to find success in life beyond high school; and 38
WHEREAS, Superintendent Poore has embodied the school 39
district's motto - "Mark of Excellence" - and maintained its 40
status as a top-rated district, forming lifelong friendships and 41
invaluable relationships along the way that he will cherish for 42
the rest of his life; and 43

WHEREAS, a testament to his consummate work ethic and 44
exemplary leadership, Superintendent Poore has received numerous 45
honors throughout his career, including the Madison County Schools 46
Administrator of the Year, the Mississippi Association of 47
Secondary School Principals (MASSP) Middle School Principal of the 48
Year, the MASSP High School Principal of the Year, and the 49
Mississippi Association of School Administrators High School 50
Principal of the Year; and 51
WHEREAS, as Superintendent Poore prepares for his well-earned 52
retirement and reflects on his many accomplishments, both personal 53
and professional, he remains steadfastly committed to the 54
important work still before him, ready to finish the school year 55
strong; and 56
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 57
recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians, especially those 58
such as Superintendent Ted Poore, whose impact will long be 59
remembered by every student, faculty member, and administrator 60
lucky enough to learn from and work with him throughout his long 61
and meaningful career: 62
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 63
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 64
commend and congratulate Madison County School District 65
Superintendent Ted Poore upon the occasion of his retirement, and 66
extend best wishes for continued success in all his future 67
endeavors. 68
