HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 23
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE BROOKHAVEN 1
HIGH SCHOOL PANTHERS FOOTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH DARIEN DORSEY ON 2
WINNING THE 2025 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION 3
(MHSAA) CLASS 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 4
WHEREAS, the Brookhaven High School Panthers Football Team 5
emerged victorious against West Point High School Green Wave in 6
the 2025 Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) 7
Class 5A State Championship with a commanding 31-19 victory at the 8
Davis Wade Stadium on the campus of Mississippi State University, 9
securing the team's first state title since 2004; and 10
WHEREAS, finishing the season with an outstanding 12-2 11
record, Brookhaven demonstrated dominance throughout the year and 12
capped off their remarkable campaign with a thrilling comeback in 13
their championship performance that showcased the team's mental 14
stamina and determination along with their exceptional talent; and 15
WHEREAS, the Panthers, nervous in facing the defending West 16
Point state champs boasting a record 13 state championships, had a 17
rough start, trailing at the halftime break 19-10 after having a 18
scoreless first quarter before getting on the board in the second 19

quarter with a 24-yard field goal by Isaac Iles and a 51-yard 20
touchdown run by Jaden Allen in the second quarter; and 21
WHEREAS, after making adjustments during halftime, the 22
Panthers came roaring back in the third quarter, taking a 23
controlling 31-19 lead after Dreamus Harron, Caiden Quarles and 24
Jeremy Bibbs each secured a touchdown while the Panthers' defense 25
completely shut down the Green Wave momentum of the first half; 26
and 27
WHEREAS, the team's success was powered by standout 28
performances, including running back, Caiden Quarles, whose 29
rushing for 138 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries earned him the 30
distinction of being named Most Valuable Player in the 31
championship game; and 32
WHEREAS, the Panthers are comprised of the following talented 33
student-athletes: Timmothy Smith, Jeremy Bibbs, Dreamus Harron, 34
EJ Ratliff, Cortavian Dixon, Jaden Allen, Caiden Quarles, Adrian 35
Blakely, Derwin Fields, A'Semiyon Smith, Durrell Washington, 36
Freshawn Stewart, Landon Hardy, Reece McNulty, Crews Stewart, 37
R'Javien McCall, Jeremiah Bibbs, Anthony Johnson, Kyle Smith, 38
Jordan Jones, Kameron Rutland, Zakobi Washington, Tanner Hardy, 39
Jamontae Cooper, Debreeco Mitchell, Jr., Kenvarsite Williams, 40

WHEREAS, Head Coach Darien Dorsey and Assistant Coach Aaron 53
King have superbly coached and inspired the Panthers and broadened 54
their knowledge of the game while refining their skills in 55
execution, and they continue to build upon the legacy of superior 56
play and true sportsmanship forged by the tenacious and undaunted 57
spirit of each team member; and 58
WHEREAS, the Panthers' remarkable achievement in defeating 59
West Point for the state championship, only the second title in 60
program history, is a testament to the support and pride of the 61
Brookhaven community, whose encouragement and unwavering belief in 62
their team continue to inspire success on and off the field; and 63
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 64
recognize and honor the achievements of student-athletes such as 65
the Brookhaven High School Panthers Football Team, who have 66
brought honor to their school and community and the entire State 67
of Mississippi: 68

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 69
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 70
commend and congratulate the Brookhaven High School Football Team 71
and Head Coach Darien Dorsey on winning the 2025 Mississippi High 72
School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 5A State Championship 73
and extend best wishes for continued success in all their future 74
athletic and academic endeavors. 75
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 76
furnished to Head Coach Darien Dorsey, on behalf of the Brookhaven 77
High School Panthers Football Team and to the members of the 78
Capitol Press Corps. 79
