HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 27
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE LAMAR SCHOOL 1
RAIDERS FOOTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH JACOB LAND UPON WINNING THE 2
2025 MID-SOUTH ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS (MAIS) CLASS 4A 3
DIVISION III STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 4
WHEREAS, the Lamar School Raiders Football Team once again 5
demonstrated exceptional excellence, discipline and determination 6
by winning the Mid-South Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) 7
Class 4A Division III State Championship with a decisive victory 8
over Brookhaven Academy on Saturday, November 22, 2025; and 9
WHEREAS, this championship marks the seventh state football 10
title in Lamar School history, a milestone that reflects the 11
sustained tradition of athletic excellence, character development 12
and competitive success cultivated within the Lamar Raiders 13
football program; and 14
WHEREAS, the Raiders opened the championship contest with 15
commanding intensity, scoring two early touchdowns to establish a 16
14-0 lead, while the Lamar defense delivered an electrifying 17
performance highlighted by two decisive interception returns for 18

touchdowns, one by senior Jalin Trotter and another by senior 19
MiKeal Willis, firmly shifting the momentum of the game; and 20
WHEREAS, despite significant adversity during the contest, 21
including the loss of key players due to sideline incidents that 22
resulted in multiple ejections, the Raiders remained resilient, 23
composed and unified, ultimately overcoming all obstacles to 24
secure the state championship title; and 25
WHEREAS, under the steady leadership of Head Coach Jacob Land 26
and Assistant Coaches Adrian Hopkins, Jonathan Reneau, Matthew 27
Whiting, Charlie Ballou, Caleb Wilcke, McLeod Norwood, Jeff 28
Breland, Todd Vowell and Gavin Mosley, the Raiders have fostered a 29
culture grounded in accountability, perseverance, sportsmanship 30
and purpose, both on and off the field, which proved instrumental 31
in their championship run; and 32
WHEREAS, Coach Land credited the team's unwavering resolve, 33
character development and shared sense of purpose as the defining 34
factors in the Raiders' success, noting that the team's commitment 35
to personal growth and unity enabled them to withstand adversity 36
and finish the season as champions; and 37
WHEREAS, the 2025 Lamar School Raiders State Championship 38
Football Team roster is comprised of: Jalin Trotter, Robert 39
Gardner, Jhaqwon Slack, Jackson Whitcomb, Luke Brady, Samuel 40
Roberts, MiKeal Willis, Sullivan Reed, Gavin Aull, Ashton Jones, 41
Walker Mims, Hamp Haarala, Benson Oates, Maddox Mims, Briggs 42
Calvert, Cade Vowell, Logan Cross, Knox Davis, Landon Johnson, 43

Ryan McDaniel, Samuel Hines, Brett Calvert and Jack Voss; and 48
WHEREAS, the success of the Raiders was further supported by 49
the dedication of Team Managers Liam Clayton, Clarke Newlin, Sam 50
Komar, Hudson Haarala, Travis Boston, Landrey Wilkerson, EJ Carter 51
and Keegan Aull; Athletic Trainer Alan Tingle; Athletic Director 52
Matt Boone; and Head of School Leigh Ann Ballou, whose leadership 53
and commitment contributed significantly to the program's 54
excellence; and 55
WHEREAS, the Raiders' championship achievement has brought 56
great pride to Lamar School, Lauderdale County and the State of 57
Mississippi, while serving as a powerful example to 58
student-athletes across the state of the rewards of hard work, 59
discipline and teamwork; and 60
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 61
recognize and commend outstanding achievements by student-athletes 62
whose accomplishments bring honor to their schools, communities 63
and the State of Mississippi: 64
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 65
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 66
commend and congratulate the Lamar School Raiders Football Team 67
and Head Coach Jacob Land upon winning the 2025 MAIS Class 4A 68
