HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 28
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. LESHANDA 1
JOHNSON UPON BEING NAMED SUMMIT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S 2025 TEACHER 2
OF THE YEAR. 3
WHEREAS, Mrs. LeShanda Johnson, an outstanding and well 4
admired 4th grade English Arts teacher in Summit, Mississippi, is 5
being celebrated and honored as she has been named Summit 6
Elementary School's 2025 Teacher of the Year; and 7
WHEREAS, a truly exceptional educator, Mrs. Johnson is known 8
for pouring her heart into teaching as well as for having her 9
classroom as a special haven where students feel seen, challenged 10
and encouraged to grow as readers, writers and confident leaders; 11
and 12
WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson's exceptional instructional excellence 13
and unwavering commitment to the children she serves each day is 14
exemplified daily with a spirit of zeal and joy that is showered 15
upon her students; and 16
WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson's collaboration with colleagues, 17
students and families is known for creating a school culture of 18

respect and success and her demonstration of leadership and 19
innovation inside and outside of the classroom serves a model for 20
her colleagues and others; and 21
WHEREAS, in addition to her success in the classroom, Mrs. 22
Johnson is a full-time caretaker of her husband, Mr. Dedrick 23
Johnson, a respected former coach and teacher at McComb High 24
School, who has also made a profound impact on countless students 25
throughout his career; and 26
WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnson truly represents the very best of 27
education as she is selfless, committed and deeply rooted in love 28
for children and the community; and 29
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 30
recognize, honor and celebrate inspirational educators such as 31
Mrs. Johnson whose effective classroom teaching is truly the 32
backbone in creating an exceptional education system that provides 33
students with knowledge and skills to be successful as they are 34
this great State's future: 35
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 36
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 37
commend and congratulate Mrs. LeShanda Johnson on being named 38
Summit Elementary School's 2025 Teacher of the Year, and wish her 39
continued success both inside and outside of the classroom in all 40
her future endeavors. 41
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 42
furnished to Mrs. LeShanda Johnson, Lakya Washington, Principal of 43
