A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PRESTIGIOUS AND ESTEEMED LADIES 1
OF THE LINKS, INCORPORATED, ON THE MOMENTOUS OCCASION OF 2
"MISSISSIPPI LINKS DAY AT THE STATE CAPITOL 2026", AND HONORING 3
THE ORGANIZATION'S IMPRESSIVE SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY, THIS STATE 4
AND THE NATION. 5
WHEREAS, the prestigious and esteemed ladies of the 6
Mississippi chapters of The Links, Incorporated, have journeyed to 7
the Mississippi State Capitol on February 11, 2026, for 8
"Mississippi Links Day at the State Capitol 2026", to battle food 9
insecurity, advocate for maternal health, the expansion of SNAP 10
eligibility, Black farmers and access and equity in Mississippi; 11
and 12
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated, is an international, 13
nonprofit corporation which was founded in 1946, and now boasts 14
more than 17,000 members in 299 chapters that are located in 41 15
states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas 16
and the United Kingdom, with seven active chapters located in the 17
State of Mississippi, the organization's Southern Area; and 18

WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated, has a rich and documented 19
legacy of promoting and engaging in educational, civic and 20
inter-cultural activities that enrich the lives of members of the 21
Black community at large; and 22
WHEREAS, this distinguished organization utilizes its five 23
programming facets – Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends 24
and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and 25
Human Services - to enhance the lives of others as it strives to 26
serve the community through volunteer service; and 27
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated, implements programs and 28
initiatives that address the most critical needs of underserved 29
communities; and 30
WHEREAS, "Mississippi Links Day at the State Capitol" is a 31
vital part of the national political awareness initiative as it 32
creates the environment for members of this organization to 33
receive legislative updates, promote advocacy and take action as 34
part of their commitment to criminal and social justice, political 35
awareness, voter empowerment, and commitment to statewide civic 36
engagement; and 37
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated, is one of the nation's 38
oldest, largest and most revered volunteer service organizations 39
whose members are professional women committed to enriching, 40
sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of 41
African Americans and other persons of African ancestry, and to 42

this end, the organization contributes more than one million 43
documented hours of community service annually; and 44
WHEREAS, the Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated, 45
consists of more than 4,500 members in 80 chapters, with seven 46
enthusiastic Mississippi chapters, which include the Mississippi 47
Delta, Mississippi Roses, Golden Crest, Jackson, LeFleur's Bluff, 48
Natchez and Gulf Coast chapters, with each working independently 49
and collectively to improve lives and communities within the State 50
of Mississippi; and 51
WHEREAS, it is most appropriate to commend an exceptional 52
volunteer organization, such as The Links, Incorporated, driven by 53
its mission to improve the quality of life for all, thereby 54
improving the lives of countless Mississippians: 55
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 56
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 57
commend the prestigious and esteemed ladies of The Links, 58
Incorporated, on the momentous occasion of "Mississippi Links Day 59
at the State Capitol 2026", and honor the organization's 60
impressive service to the community, this state and the nation. 61
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 62
furnished to all chapter presidents of the Mississippi chapters of 63
The Links, Incorporated, and to the members of the Capitol Press 64
Corps. 65
