HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 31
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MISSISSIPPI 1
COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATION ON THE OCCASION OF ITS 100TH 2
ANNIVERSARY. 3
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Communication Association was 4
founded in 1926 by educators and scholars dedicated to the study, 5
teaching and advancement of human communication; and 6
WHEREAS, for 100 years, the Mississippi Communication 7
Association has served as a professional organization committed to 8
excellence in communication education, research and public 9
discourse throughout the State of Mississippi; and 10
WHEREAS, the association has provided a vital forum for 11
teachers, students, researchers and practitioners to share 12
scholarship, foster collaboration, and promote ethical and 13
effective communication in classrooms, communities and civic life; 14
and 15
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Communication Association has played 16
a significant role in strengthening higher education in 17

Mississippi by supporting faculty development, student engagement 18
and academic excellence across colleges and universities; and 19
WHEREAS, through its conferences, publications and service, 20
the association has contributed to the preparation of generations 21
of Mississippians for leadership, citizenship and professional 22
success; and 23
WHEREAS, the year 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the 24
Mississippi Communication Association, a milestone worthy of 25
recognition and celebration; and 26
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Communication Association will 27
commemorate its centennial anniversary on February 6, 2026, 28
honoring its history, achievements and ongoing commitment to the 29
advancement of communication in the State of Mississippi; and 30
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 31
recognize outstanding organizations such as the Mississippi 32
Communication Association, whose 100 years of unwavering service 33
to bettering the lives of individuals and the profession as a 34
whole has made Mississippi a better place for all its citizens: 35
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 36
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 37
commend and congratulate the Mississippi Communication Association 38
on the occasion of its 100th anniversary and express heartfelt 39
appreciation for its century of service to education, scholarship 40
and the people of this state. 41

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we do hereby extend best wishes 42
to the Mississippi Communication Association for continued success 43
as they embark on their second century of service. 44
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 45
furnished to the Mississippi Communication Association and to the 46
members of the Capitol Press Corps. 47
