A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MISS ABBEY HARTY 1
UPON BEING CROWNED MISS RODEO CANADA 2026 AND RECOGNIZING HER 2
DEDICATION TO THE SPORT OF RODEO AND WESTERN HERITAGE. 3
WHEREAS, in December 2025, Miss Abbey Harty, a 22-year-old 4
first-generation rodeo athlete from Edam, Saskatchewan, was 5
crowned Miss Rodeo Canada 2026, a prestigious title that 6
recognizes her dedication to the sport of rodeo and the promotion 7
of western culture; and 8
WHEREAS, raised in a rural ranching community, Abbey has been 9
involved in rodeo and horsemanship for over a decade, competing in 10
multiple rodeo associations across Western Canada; and 11
WHEREAS, through her involvement in the sport, Abbey has 12
developed strong values of perseverance, respect, and 13
community — principles that guide both her personal and 14
professional life; and 15
WHEREAS, Abbey currently serves as an executive member and 16
Social Media Manager for the University of Saskatchewan College 17
Rodeo Team, and she proudly holds a position as a board member of 18

the Canadian College Rodeo Association, where she contributes to 19
the promotion and advancement of collegiate rodeo across Canada; 20
and 21
WHEREAS, beyond the rodeo arena, Abbey has worked in the 22
healthcare field for over five years and is currently employed at 23
a long-term care facility, and she is pursuing a career in nursing 24
at Saskatchewan Polytechnic, with aspirations of obtaining a 25
master's degree in dementia studies; and 26
WHEREAS, in 2018, Abbey's rodeo career was abruptly 27
interrupted following a serious ATV accident that resulted in a 28
partial arm amputation, and after undergoing multiple surgeries 29
and years of rehabilitation, she rediscovered her resilience and 30
determination, ultimately returning to the rodeo arena with a 31
renewed perspective and deep appreciation for the sport; and 32
WHEREAS, Abbey's journey in rodeo later led her to discover a 33
passion for rodeo queening as well as her path began as the North 34
Battleford Rodeo Princess and continued through her role as Miss 35
Rodeo Agribition; and 36
WHEREAS, now representing Canadian Professional Rodeo as Miss 37
Rodeo Canada, Abbey is honored to share the traditions, values, 38
and heritage of Canada's western way of life — an honor she 39
carries with pride and purpose; and 40
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 41
recognize and honor outstanding individuals such as Miss Abbey 42

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 45
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 46
commend and congratulate Miss Abbey Harty upon being crowned Miss 47
Rodeo Canada 2026 and extend best wishes for continued success in 48
all her future endeavors. 49
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 50
furnished to Miss Abbey Harty, the Canadian Professional Rodeo 51
Association and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps. 52
