HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 37
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING KAYTELYN HARRIS 1
UPON BEING NAMED THE 2025 STATE GAMES OF MISSISSIPPI OVERALL 2
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR. 3
WHEREAS, Kaytelyn Harris of Quitman, Mississippi, has been 4
named the 2025 State Games of Mississippi Overall Female Athlete 5
of the Year, an honor recognizing exceptional athletic 6
achievement, perseverance and dedication; and 7
WHEREAS, Kaytelyn has participated in the sport of disc golf 8
for only one and one-half years, yet during that brief period she 9
has distinguished herself by earning back-to-back gold medals in 10
the State Games of Mississippi and placing in 10 competitive 11
tournaments across the region; and 12
WHEREAS, during the 2025 competitive season, Kaytelyn 13
achieved a significant personal milestone by recording her best 14
tournament round at only four strokes over par, reflecting rapid 15
growth, discipline and competitive excellence in a demanding 16
sport; and 17

WHEREAS, Kaytelyn has identified the mental aspects of 18
competition as her greatest challenge, emphasizing focus, 19
composure and enjoyment of the game, stating, "I work at getting 20
out of my head and just throwing. Each round, I make a conscious 21
effort to just have fun and enjoy the sport, no matter the score"; 22
and 23
WHEREAS, as a single mother of three young children, Kaytelyn 24
discovered disc golf during a difficult period in her life and 25
found through the sport a supportive and encouraging community 26
that fostered both personal healing and athletic growth; and 27
WHEREAS, Disc Golf Commissioner Bruce Bullock praised her 28
dedication and work ethic, noting that she practices at every 29
opportunity regardless of weather conditions and that her 30
improvement and commitment have been remarkable to observe; and 31
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of 32
the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend outstanding 33
Mississippi athletes whose determination, resilience and 34
accomplishments bring honor to their communities and to the State 35
of Mississippi: 36
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 37
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 38
commend and congratulate Kaytelyn Harris upon being named the 2025 39
State Games of Mississippi Overall Female Athlete of the Year, and 40
extend sincere best wishes for continued success in all her future 41
athletic and personal endeavors. 42
