HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 38

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING AUBREY LYNN 1
ATCHISON UPON BEING NAMED THE 2025 STATE GAMES OF MISSISSIPPI 2
OVERALL YOUTH ATHLETE OF THE YEAR. 3
WHEREAS, Aubrey Lynn Atchison of Biloxi, Mississippi, has 4
been named the 2025 State Games of Mississippi Overall Youth 5
Athlete of the Year, an honor bestowed upon a young athlete whose 6
performance, character and perseverance exemplify the highest 7
ideals of athletic excellence and sportsmanship; and 8
WHEREAS, Aubrey is a senior at Biloxi High School and has 9
dedicated 13 years to the sport of softball, including three 10
years competing in the State Games of Mississippi, reflecting 11
sustained commitment, discipline and competitive excellence; and 12
WHEREAS, during the 2025 State Games of Mississippi, Aubrey 13
delivered an exceptional performance by posting a .636 batting 14
average, scoring four runs and recording five runs batted in 15
(RBIs), thereby distinguishing herself among the most accomplished 16
youth athletes in the state; and 17

WHEREAS, Aubrey's achievements at the State Games capped a 18
standout season in which she earned First Team All-Region 4-7A 19
honors, was selected to participate in the Mississippi Gulf Coast 20
All-Stars Futures Game, and was recognized as Biloxi High School's 21
Offensive Player of the Year; and 22
WHEREAS, Aubrey's path to success has been marked by 23
significant adversity, including a serious ankle injury sustained 24
in 2022 that required a prolonged recovery, after which she 25
returned to varsity competition while still in the eighth grade; 26
and 27
WHEREAS, despite sustaining two additional injuries in 28
subsequent years, Aubrey remained unwavering in her commitment to 29
her team and her sport by continuing to train, encouraging her 30
teammates, and leading with determination, patience and grace; and 31
WHEREAS, through these challenges, Aubrey has demonstrated 32
resilience and maturity beyond her years, embodying the principle 33
that true leadership is revealed through perseverance, humility 34
and purpose, as reflected in her words: "Softball is so much more 35
than just a sport to me. It is where I found my passion, my 36
people, and my purpose"; and 37
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of 38
the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend outstanding 39
young Mississippians whose achievements and character bring honor 40
to their communities and to the State of Mississippi: 41

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 42
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 43
commend and congratulate Aubrey Lynn Atchison upon being named the 44
2025 State Games of Mississippi Overall Youth Athlete of the Year, 45
and extend sincere best wishes for continued success in all her 46
future academic, athletic and personal endeavors. 47
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 48
furnished to Aubrey Lynn Atchison and to the members of the 49
Capitol Press Corps. 50
