ORGANIZATION OF FAMILIES ON THE OCCASION OF JACK AND JILL OF 4
AMERICA, INC.'S LEGISLATIVE DAY AT THE CAPITOL ON FEBRUARY 16, 5

WHEREAS, the Mississippi chapters of Jack and Jill of 7
America, Inc., have journeyed to the Mississippi State Capitol 8
building on February 16, 2026, to "Amplifying Our Voices" for its 9
organization in order to galvanize their children, mothers and 10
fathers to become more aware of the legislative process; and 11
WHEREAS, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., is a nationally 12
beloved and distinguished organization of African-American 13
mothers, fathers and children, comprised of 262 chapters, across 14
seven geographical regions; and 15
WHEREAS, founded by the late Marion Stubbs Thomas in 1938, an 16
acclaimed pianist and civic organizer, who along with 20 mothers 17
gathered to create an organization of African-American mothers 18
with children from the ages of two to 19, who provide social, 19
cultural and educational opportunities for youth; and 20

WHEREAS, since its inception, this unrivaled organization of 21
mothers has championed many legislative initiatives that improve 22
the quality of life for children and families, including access to 23
healthy food, free mammograms, blood pressure and cardiovascular 24
checks, swim lessons, financial literacy workshops, mental health 25
initiatives, voter registration, scholarships and assistance in 26
lower income communities; and 27
WHEREAS, Mississippi's three vibrant chapters: the Jackson 28
Mississippi Chapter, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter and the 29
North Mississippi Chapter, along with Regional Legislative Chair 30
Dee Dawkins-Haigler are excited to educate Mississippi families 31
and advocate for children during their legislative day; and 32
WHEREAS, the chapters in Mississippi are proudly represented 33
by impressive leaders, such as President Mona Arnold-McBride and 34
Vice President Teneisha Felice Wynter of the Jackson, Mississippi 35
Chapter, which was the first chapter chartered in this state, 36
President Kutina Carter and Vice President Tomesha Davis of the 37
Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter, and President Lillian 38
Morris-Hilson, and Vice President Latrica McCool of the North 39
Mississippi Chapter; and 40
WHEREAS, the legislative initiatives of the Mississippi 41
chapters have included access to healthy food, free mammograms, 42

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 46
celebrate exceptional organizations, especially those such as Jack 47
and Jill of America, Inc., whose extraordinary community service 48
brings honor to the State of Mississippi and improves the lives of 49
future generations of Mississippians: 50
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 51
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 52
commend the Mississippi chapters of Jack and Jill of America, 53
Inc., for its exceptional commitment to the educational and 54
cultural development of youth, the cultivation of future leaders, 55
and its celebration of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.'s 56
Legislative Day at the Capitol on February 16, 2026. 57
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 58
furnished to Mona Arnold-McBride, Teneisha Felice Wynter, Kutina 59
Carter, Tomesha Davis, Lillian Morris-Hilson, Latrica McCool and 60
to the members of the Capitol Press Corps. 61
