HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 47
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING STONE COUNTY 1
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PARTNERSHIP AND ELECTED CITY AND COUNTY 2
LEADERS AND BUSINESS LEADERS OF STONE COUNTY UPON THE COUNTY'S 3
ECONOMIC SUCCESS. 4
WHEREAS, the Stone County Economic Development Partnership 5
(SCEDP) as well as the county's elected city and county leaders 6
and business leaders are being honored upon the county becoming "a 7
hidden gem that awaits all" as it is a beacon of innovation, 8
opportunity and community pride that has catapulted the county 9
into economic success; and 10
WHEREAS, with the assistance of the Mississippi Development 11
Authority and other state resources, Stone County has attracted a 12
world-class innovator in the aerospace and defense section with 13
rocket motors manufacturer, Anduril; and 14
WHEREAS, notably, in the upcoming months, with the help of 15
Gulf Coast Restoration Funds, Stone County is committed to 16
developing an industrial site that will bring even more innovators 17
to the area while supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs, 18
who form the backbone of the county's local economy; and 19

WHEREAS, as evidence of the success of Stone County, the 20
county was selected and honored as the 2025 Destination Marketing 21
Organization (DMO) of the Year for its "Explore Stone County. . . 22
Hidden Gems Await" tourism initiative at the Governor's Conference 23
of Tourism in Vicksburg; and 24
WHEREAS, as the 2025 DMO of the Year recipient, Stone County 25
received this prestigious award due to its outstanding efforts in 26
highlighting outdoor recreation offerings, magnificent places to 27
eat and shop and events that truly make the county great; and 28
WHEREAS, SCEDP has also invested thousands of dollars in the 29
design, implementation and construction of welcome signs at the 30
gateways into Stone County, and now Wiggins, over the past year as 31
these signs speak to the county's vision as it is a place where 32
businesses succeed, families thrive and innovation meets 33
tradition; and 34
WHEREAS, also, Stone County, in partnership with Mississippi 35
Power, has offered nearly $100,000 in facade grant investments to 36
downtown business owners, to help attract more people to eat, play 37
and shop in downtown, and through alliances with colleges such as 38
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, the county is teaming 39
with Accelerate Mississippi to invest in initiatives that will 40
enhance the local workforce; and 41
WHEREAS, Stone County has been designated by the Legislature 42
as the Mural County of Mississippi due to its artistic mosaics and 43
art pieces countywide and through events like Pine Hill Festival 44

leaders; commend upon economic success of Stone
County.
that welcomes thousands to the county the last weekend of April 45
every year - all of which truly exude the county's creative 46
economy; and 47
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 48
recognize and honor outstanding economic success that has been 49
exhibited by Stone County as it is a place where industry and 50
innovation flourish, tourism is valued, partnerships are yielding 51
results and creative economy is key: 52
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE REPRESENTATIVES 53
OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and 54
congratulate Stone County upon its economic success and wish the 55
county and its leadership continued success. 56
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 57
furnished to the members of the Capitol Press Corps. 58
