A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SIMPSON 1
ACADEMY LADY COUGARS SOFTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH MATT HARRISON 2
UPON WINNING THE MAIS CLASS 4A DIVISION I STATE SOFTBALL 3
CHAMPIONSHIP. 4
WHEREAS, on October 12, 2025, the Simpson Academy Lady 5
Cougars Softball Team secured the MAIS Class 4A Division I State 6
Softball Championship by defeating Parklane Academy 6-4 in the 7
decisive third game of a best-of-three championship series held at 8
the Magee Sportsplex; and 9
WHEREAS, the Lady Cougars earned their place in the 10
championship series through a dominant playoff performance, 11
including an 8-1 victory over Bayou Academy and a commanding 12-0 12
shutout of Parklane Academy, demonstrating excellence in pitching, 13
defense and offensive production; and 14
WHEREAS, throughout the postseason, the team displayed 15
determination, unity and resilience, playing their highest caliber 16
of softball when it mattered most and securing home-field 17
advantage for the opening game of the championship series; and 18

WHEREAS, the 2025 Simpson Academy Lady Cougars Softball Team 19
roster includes: Danni Cooper, Tinsley Aldridge, Gracie 20
Pinkerton, Lucy Walker, Jadyn Sanford, Kylin Chisholm, Miley 21
Massey, Hudson Emrich, Edyn Guidroz, Mollie Murphy, Aniston Bass, 22
Paxtyn Collins, Abra Presley, Mallory Duncan, Brecken Collins, 23
Maggie Duncan, Madisyn Hankins, Caroline Lewis, Ava Kate Maddox, 24
Sydnie Bass, Jayda Smith, Stella Steed and Annmarie Blakeney; and 25
WHEREAS, the team was led by Head Coach Matt Harrison and 26
Assistant Coaches Ben Coney and Michael Harrison, whose 27
leadership, preparation and emphasis on discipline and teamwork 28
were instrumental in guiding the Lady Cougars to a championship 29
finish; and 30
WHEREAS, the Simpson Academy Lady Cougars represented their 31
school and community with honor, sportsmanship and pride, 32
inspiring classmates, families and Cougar supporters through their 33
perseverance and competitive excellence; and 34
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 35
recognize and commend the outstanding achievements of 36
student-athletes who, through dedication and teamwork, bring 37
distinction to their schools and communities: 38
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 39
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 40
commend and congratulate the Simpson Academy Lady Cougars Softball 41
Team and Head Coach Matt Harrison upon winning the MAIS Class 4A 42
