HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 65
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PORT GIBSON 1
MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH TERENCE PARKER UPON 2
COMPLETING AN UNDEFEATED SEASON AND WINNING THE 2025-2026 3
CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT TITLE. 4
WHEREAS, the Port Gibson Middle School Basketball Team 5
concluded the 2025-2026 season with an extraordinary and historic 6
accomplishment, finishing the season undefeated and capturing the 7
championship tournament title in dominant fashion; and 8
WHEREAS, this undefeated championship season represents a 9
proud milestone for Port Gibson Middle School and the surrounding 10
community, reflecting the dedication of student-athletes, coaches, 11
families and supporters who stood behind the team throughout the 12
season; and 13
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Terence Parker, 14
the team demonstrated discipline, resilience and unity from the 15
opening tip-off of the season to the final buzzer of the 16
championship game, setting a standard of excellence both on and 17
off the court; and 18

WHEREAS, Coach Parker's guidance has produced two 19
championship titles within his three-year tenure, establishing a 20
culture of preparation, accountability and competitive success 21
within the program; and 22
WHEREAS, each contest throughout the season showcased the 23
team's commitment to teamwork, sportsmanship and respect for the 24
game of basketball, with every player embracing his role and 25
contributing to the collective success of the team; and 26
WHEREAS, the undefeated record was earned through countless 27
hours of practice, trust among teammates and a shared belief that 28
sustained effort and unity produce lasting results; and 29
WHEREAS, beyond trophies and accolades, the 2025-2026 30
championship season reflects the character, perseverance and pride 31
of the students of Port Gibson Middle School, who have represented 32
their school and community with honor; and 33
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 34
recognize and commend the achievements of student-athletes who 35
bring distinction to their schools and communities through 36
discipline, teamwork and excellence: 37
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 38
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 39
commend and congratulate the Port Gibson Middle School Basketball 40
Team and Head Coach Terence Parker upon completing an undefeated 41
2025-2026 season and winning the championship tournament title, 42
and extend best wishes for continued success in future seasons. 43

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 44
furnished to Head Coach Terence Parker, to the administration of 45
Port Gibson Middle School and to the members of the Capitol Press 46
