A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING CYRUS R. FLAHERTY 1
UPON THE IMPRESSIVE OCCASION OF BEING ACCEPTED INTO WEST POINT 2
ACADEMY. 3
WHEREAS, Cyrus R. Flaherty has earned admission into the 4
distinguished and high revered institution of West Point Academy, 5
much to the joy and excitement of his parents; and 6
WHEREAS, this Tupelo High School senior is a task-oriented 7
member of the National Honor Society whose intellectual acumen and 8
impressive work ethic have placed him consecutively on the 9
Superintendent's list since 2014, and earned him the title of 10
Rotary Scholar in 2021 through 2024; and 11
WHEREAS, a passionate officer of the Teenage Republicans, 12
Cyrus is also a member of the Sincerely Seniors Club and the 13
manager of the Golden Wave Varsity Football Team; and 14
WHEREAS, Cyrus is a four-year cadet who began his journey in 15
2021 and has served as a Cadet Major, Staff Officer who led the 16
Program Operations and Cadet Training, has been a participant of 17
the All-Star Junior Cadet Leadership Challenge; and 18

WHEREAS, a leader in spirit and in truth, Cyrus is an 19
honorable member of Scouting America Troop 85 in Tupelo, where he 20
has earned the coveted rank of Eagle Scout, was a former Senior 21
Patrol Leader, former order of the Arrow Chapter Chief and Order 22
of the Arrow-Brotherhood; and 23
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 24
celebrate the accomplishments of our youth because they are 25
Mississippi's future: 26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 27
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 28
commend and congratulate Cyrus R. Flaherty upon the impressive 29
occasion of being accepted into West Point Academy. 30
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 31
furnished to Cyrus R. Flaherty and to the members of the Capitol 32
Press Corps. 33
