A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING MARCH 5, 2026, AS NONPROFIT DAY AT 1
THE CAPITOL AND ENCOURAGING ALL CITIZENS OF THE STATE TO SUPPORT 2
THE WORK OF NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN OUR COMMUNITIES. 3
WHEREAS, the State of Mississippi recognizes the invaluable 4
contributions of nonprofit organizations in enhancing the quality 5
of life for all its residents; and 6
WHEREAS, nonprofit organizations in Mississippi provide 7
essential services, support community development, and advocate 8
for the well-being of our citizens; and 9
WHEREAS, these organizations address critical issues such as 10
education, healthcare, social services, environmental protection, 11
and cultural enrichment, often filling gaps that government and 12
private sectors are unable to fill; and 13
WHEREAS, the dedication and hard work of nonprofit staff, 14
volunteers and supporters are vital to the success and 15
sustainability of these organizations; and 16
WHEREAS, the Mississippi House of Representatives 17
acknowledges the importance of fostering a supportive environment 18

for nonprofits to thrive and continue their mission-driven work; 19

WHEREAS, the 2026 Nonprofit Day at the Capitol provides an 21
opportunity for nonprofit leaders, advocates and supporters to 22
engage with legislators, share their successes and challenges, and 23
advocate for policies that strengthen the nonprofit sector: 24
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 25
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 26
proclaim March 5, 2026, as Nonprofit Day at the Capitol in the 27
State of Mississippi and encourage all citizens to recognize and 28
support the vital work of nonprofit organizations in our 29
communities. 30
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 31
furnished to the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and 32
Philanthropy and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps. 33
