HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 84
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE ST. PATRICK 1
CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL LADY IRISH SOCCER TEAM FOR WINNING THEIR 2
FOURTH CONSECUTIVE CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 3
WHEREAS, the St. Patrick Catholic High School Lady Irish 4
Soccer Team completed a historic season, capturing their fourth 5
consecutive Class 1A State Championship on February 13, 2026; and 6
WHEREAS, after winning their third straight title in 2025, 7
the Lady Irish entered the 2025–2026 season determined to continue 8
their legacy, and led by the largest senior class in program 9
history, including captains: Nora Mestayer, Lila Miller, Bella 10
Jordan and Samantha Johnson, this group was driven by hard work, 11
discipline, teamwork, commitment and a steadfast dedication to 12
putting God first; and 13
WHEREAS, despite battling early-season injuries, the team's 14
depth and emerging young talent helped propel them forward, and 15
the Lady Irish finished district play with a perfect 9–0 record, 16
securing their sixth consecutive District Championship, a 17

testament to their consistency, resilience and competitive spirit; 18
and 19
WHEREAS, the team advanced through the playoffs and defeated 20
Our Lady Academy 2–0 in the South State Championship to earn a 21
spot in the Class 1A State Championship match, and in the title 22
game, the Lady Irish defeated St. Andrew's Episcopal School 2–0 to 23
claim their fourth straight state title; and 24
WHEREAS, the Lady Irish concluded the season with an 25
outstanding 18–4–4 overall record and are ranked No. 10 in 26
Mississippi across all classifications; and 27
WHEREAS, the Lady Irish have been superbly coached and 28
inspired by Head Coach Angela McClure and Assistant Coaches 29
Courtney Head, Carissa Harrison and Jim Thriffiley, who have 30
broadened the team's knowledge of the game and refined their 31
skills in execution; and 32
WHEREAS, Bella Jordan was named MVP of the state championship 33
game, while Nora Mestayer earned the Scholar Athlete Award, and 11 34
seniors anchored this remarkable season with exceptional 35
leadership, character and commitment, and three seniors: Bella 36
Jordan, Gia Encrapera and Samantha Johnson, will continue their 37
soccer careers at the collegiate level; and 38
WHEREAS, this championship season cements the Lady Irish 39
legacy as one of excellence, perseverance, faith and unmatched 40
dedication to their program; and 41

WHEREAS, in their tireless dedication, the Lady Irish have 42
developed a winning, cooperative spirit and a high degree of 43
sportsmanship, and their activities and attitudes reflect great 44
credit upon the individual players and the entire coaching staff; 45
and 46
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 47
recognize and honor the accomplishments of outstanding 48
student-athletes, especially those such as the St. Patrick 49
Catholic High School Lady Irish Soccer Team, whose hard work, 50
dedication and excellence on the field brings honor to St. Patrick 51
Catholic High School, their community and the State of 52
Mississippi: 53
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 54
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 55
commend and congratulate the St. Patrick Catholic High School Lady 56
Irish Soccer Team for winning their fourth consecutive Class 1A 57
State Championship and extend best wishes for continued success in 58
all their future endeavors. 59
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 60
furnished to the St. Patrick Catholic High School Lady Irish 61
Soccer Team and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps. 62
