HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 85
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE ST. PATRICK 1
HIGH SCHOOL BOY'S SOCCER TEAM AND HEAD COACH RYAN WORSHAM ON 2
WINNING THE 2026 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION 3
(MHSAA) CLASS I BOYS SOCCER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 4
WHEREAS, on February 20, 2026, in a contest sure to be 5
remembered for years to come, the St. Patrick High School Boy's 6
Soccer Team defeated St. Andrew's Episcopal School in the 2026 7
Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class I 8
Boys Soccer State Championship played in Ridgeland, Mississippi, 9
with a one-nil win, incredibly bringing the gold ball home to 10
Biloxi for the first time in nearly a decade; and 11
WHEREAS, finishing one of the team's most remarkable seasons 12
in program history, the Fighting Irish managed to do in the final 13
match what no other team accomplished this postseason - score a 14
goal against St. Andrew's - and the victory in the championship 15
set a phenomenal new school record for wins as the team, 16
undefeated at home, finished the season 23-3; and 17
WHEREAS, the 2025-2026 Fighting Irish, four-time state 18
champions, established themselves as an elite team in Mississippi 19

able to defeat anyone regardless of classification, including the 20
state's 7A powerhouse teams, and the squad's dominance on the 21
pitch resulted in their being ranked #2 in the state and #18 22
nationally across all classifications by MaxPreps; and 23
WHEREAS, boasting a flawless 10-0 record in region play, the 24
Fighting Irish, Region 8 District Champions, were explosive in 25
attack and disciplined in defense all season, scoring 95 goals 26
while conceding just 14; and 27
WHEREAS, throughout the season, the performance of all 28
members of the Boy's Soccer Team was nothing less than 29
spectacular, and for their impressive play, several team members 30
were honored with top awards, including Tristan Davis, who scored 31
the single goal with his unbelievable 60-yard kick of a lifetime 32
and was named Most Valuable Player of the championship match, and 33
Cameron Messer, who was named the Mississippi Coast Player of the 34
Year by the Mississippi Coast Coaches Poll; and 35
WHEREAS, the team's extraordinary success would not have been 36
possible without each of the following talented 2025-2026 Fighting 37
Irish student-athletes, particularly the strong senior class, many 38
of whom have been teammates for years, including six who will 39
continue their careers at the next level - a testament to the 40
culture, leadership and development within the program: John 41
Dreger, Grant Wall, Tristan Davis, Caleb McCune, Alex Baty, Ayden 42
Cosper, Peter Barhonovich, Cameron Messer, Payton Taylor, Luke 43
Shaw, Hunter Robinson, Lucas Kurihara, Gage Anderson, Sam McClain, 44

Bishop Smith, Byron Theriot, Niko Barhonovich, Miles Smith, 45
Bentley Puzz, Cobie Martino, Kingston Davis, Brady Gopffarth, Noah 46
Sullivan, Tripp Sala, Luke Warburton, Graham Mattina, Cooper 47
Messer, Sage Viglianco, Sam Bernadas, David Weeks, Joshua Dalon, 48
Owen Vogle and Walter Sulas; and 49
WHEREAS, the St. Patrick High School Boy's Soccer Team's 50
championship run will be long remembered not just for the title, 51
but for the standard set by the team built on humility, mental 52
toughness, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, as 53
evidenced by the squad's unparalleled spirit of teamwork and 54
sportsmanship and the year-round training and hard work of each 55
and every individual team member to be the best athlete he can 56
possibly be; and 57
WHEREAS, the St. Patrick High School Boy's Soccer Team has 58
been superbly coached and inspired by fifth-year Head Coach Ryan 59
Worsham and assistant coaches BJ Williams and Zach Seymour, who 60
have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined 61
their skills in execution, and the team has been loyally supported 62
and encouraged with each challenging game, both on their home turf 63
and away, by the school administration and local community; and 64
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 65
recognize and commend the superb accomplishments of Mississippi 66
student-athletes, especially those such as the St. Patrick High 67
School Boy's Soccer Team, whose excellence on the field and in the 68

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 71
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 72
commend and congratulate the St. Patrick High School Boy's Soccer 73
Team and Head Coach Ryan Worsham on winning the 2026 Mississippi 74
High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class I Boys Soccer 75
State Championship and extend best wishes to the team members and 76
coaches for continued success in all their future endeavors. 77
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 78
furnished to Head Coach Ryan Worsham on behalf of St. Patrick High 79
School Boy's Soccer Team and to the members of the Capitol Press 80
Corps. 81
