HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 93

A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING APRIL 2026 AS PARLIAMENTARY LAW 1
MONTH IN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI. 2
WHEREAS, it is timely to reflect on the importance of 3
parliamentary procedure in meetings in providing for civil 4
discourse, ensuring fairness, and maintaining order; and 5
WHEREAS, parliamentary law is an essential component of 6
ensuring that meetings, discussions, and decision-making processes 7
are conducted in a fair, orderly, and efficient manner, and 8
Parliamentary Law Month recognizes the importance of these 9
structured procedures in organizations ranging from legislative 10
bodies to student groups and faith-based institutions; and 11
WHEREAS, parliamentary procedures provide a structured system 12
for conducting meetings and play a vital role in fostering 13
leadership, decision-making and orderly meetings, and these rules 14
help facilitate discussions, make collective decisions and ensure 15
that all voices are heard while maintaining efficiency; and 16
WHEREAS, Parliamentary Law Month serves as a reminder of the 17
significance of structured governance and decision-making, and 18

celebrating this month presents an opportunity to educate members 19
on proper parliamentary procedures, promote active participation 20
and engagement in organizational meetings, and enhance the overall 21
effectiveness of organizations; and 22
WHEREAS, parliamentary procedures are not just about rules, 23
they are about empowerment, inclusion and effectiveness, and 24
during Parliamentary Law Month, it is important to recognize the 25
value of these procedures and continue fostering environments 26
where order, respect and progress prevail: 27
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 28
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 29
designate April 2026 as Parliamentary Law Month. 30
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 31
furnished to the members of the Capitol Press Corps. 32
