HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 97
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE GERMANTOWN 1
HIGH SCHOOL MAVERICKS CHEERLEADING TEAM AND HEAD CHEER COACH NEELY 2
UMPHLETT ON WINNING THE UNIVERSAL CHEERLEADERS ASSOCIATION (UCA) 3
NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL GAME DAY CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIP. 4
WHEREAS, on February 1, 2026, with an unbelievable 5
performance that will surely go down in school history, the 6
Germantown High School Mavericks Cheerleading Team reigned supreme 7
when the cheerleaders were named the 2026 Universal Cheerleading 8
Association (UCA) National High School Cheerleading Champions in 9
the Game Day category at Walt Disney World Resort; and 10
WHEREAS, not to be left out of the celebration in Orlando, 11
the Mavericks Small Coed Cheer Team, comprised of 18 students, 12
incredibly added to the school history-making event by pulling off 13
a flawless, zero deduction routine in the UCA's Traditional 14
category, which earned the squad a Top 10 finish at Nationals by 15
placing ninth out of 27 teams, further solidifying the Germantown 16
High cheerleading program's impeccable reputation as one 17
consistently delivering energy, excitement and school spirit to 18
the crowds; and 19

WHEREAS, having brought home a third-place finish in the 20
Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) State 21
Cheerleading Championship in December, the Mavericks' success at 22
the UCA National Championship capped off a phenomenal season 23
during which both teams "worked tirelessly, supported one another, 24
and represented Germantown with so much heart," according to Head 25
Cheer Coach Neely Umphlett; and 26
WHEREAS, the Mavericks Cheerleading Squad has developed 27
unparalleled teamwork and a spirit of trust in each other, 28
consistently making their precise movements appear effortless as 29
the athletically fit members of the squad safely perform complex 30
routines as a single, cohesive unit; and 31
WHEREAS, the exceptional accomplishments of the Germantown 32
High School cheerleaders would not be possible without the 33
tireless intensive training, positive attitudes and enthusiasm of 34
each of the following talented student-athletes who comprise the 35
2025-2026 cheerleading squad: Abby Blair Boutwell, Adriana Brown, 36
Reagan Burrell, Caitlin Cockrell, Devin Correia, KJ Culver, Bella 37
Della Valentina, Ansley DeLoach, Zion Denson, Christian Dismuke, 38
Zoe Efstratiou, McClain Ellis, Elise Fisher, Abby Grace Gorman, 39
Leah Graham, Bella Haley, Alyssa Harrison, Ellen Huff, Khandi 40
Johnson (mascot), Laura Jones, Niayla Knight, Lexi Kountouris, 41
Jasmine Lastique, Maggie Lindley, Aubrey Mapp (mascot), Sonnie 42
Pace, Sage Pendergrass (mascot), Presley Pinnix, Avery Robinson, 43
Natalie Rodrigues, Celia Stribling, Amelia Stricklin, Addy Reese 44

Thetford, Noah Thomas, Toni Thornton, AJ Vance, Jordan Whitley and 45
Caroline Zorn; and 46
WHEREAS, the cheerleaders have been superbly coached and 47
inspired by Head Cheer Coach Neely Umphlett, who has described the 48
UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship as a "dream 49
come true," and Assistant Coach Hannah Mitchell, who together have 50
combined their considerable talents and years of experience to 51
refine the squad's skills and precision in execution; and 52
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to 53
recognize and honor the achievements of outstanding 54
student-athletes such as the Germantown High School Mavericks 55
Cheerleaders, who have brought honor to their families, school, 56
community and the entire State of Mississippi: 57
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 58
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby 59
commend and congratulate the Germantown High School Mavericks 60
Cheerleading Team and Head Cheer Coach Neely Umphlett on winning 61
the 2026 Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) National High 62
School Cheerleading Championship in the Game Day category and 63
extend best wishes for continued success in all their future 64
athletic and academic endeavors. 65
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 66
furnished to Head Cheer Coach Neely Umphlett on behalf of the 67
Germantown High School Mavericks Cheerleading Team and to the 68
members of the Capitol Press Corps. 69
