SENATE BILL NO. 2100

AN ACT TO CREATE NEW SECTION 37-11-85, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1
1972, TO PROVIDE THAT SCHOOLS SHALL ALLOW EACH TEACHER AND ONE 2
GUEST TO ATTEND ANY SCHOOL-SPONSORED EXTRACURRICULAR EVENT FOR 3
FREE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 5
SECTION 1. The following shall be codified as Section 6
37-11-85, Mississippi Code of 1972: 7
37-11-85. Each school shall allow their teachers to attend 8
any school-sponsored extracurricular event for free. In addition 9
thereto, each teacher may bring one (1) guest who shall be allowed 10
to attend the event for free. For purposes of this section, 11
"extracurricular" shall mean a voluntary activity sponsored by the 12
school or an organization sanctioned by the school. 13
Extracurricular events shall include, but not be limited to, 14
athletic games, demonstrations, displays, competitions, public 15
performances, marching band contests, school plays and club 16
activities. 17
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 18
and after July 1, 2026. 19
