AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 73-29-3, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO 1
REVISE THE DEFINITION OF THE TERM "POLYGRAPH EXAMINER" WITHIN THE 2
POLYGRAPH EXAMINERS LAW; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 4
SECTION 1. Section 73-29-3, Mississippi Code of 1972, is 5
amended as follows: 6
73-29-3. In this chapter, unless the context requires a 7
different definition: 8
"Board" means the polygraph examiners board * * *. 9
"Secretary" means that member of the polygraph examiners 10
board selected by the board to act as secretary * * *. 11
"Internship" means the study of polygraph examinations and of 12
the administration of polygraph examinations by a trainee under 13
the personal supervision and control of a polygraph examiner in 14
accordance with a course of study prescribed by the board at the 15
commencement of such internship * * *. 16
"Person" means any natural person, firm, association, 17
copartnership, or corporation * * *. 18

polygraph instrument to test or question individuals for the 20
purpose of verifying the truth of statements. 21
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 22
and after July 1, 2026. 23
