SENATE BILL NO. 2146

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO SHARKEY COUNTY FOR THE 1
PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE COSTS OF CERTAIN INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS 2
AND INITIATIVES FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2027. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 4
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be 5
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General 6
Fund not otherwise appropriated, to Sharkey County for the purpose 7
of defraying the costs of certain infrastructure projects and 8
initiatives for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and 9
ending June 30, 2027............................... $ 3,000,000.00. 10
SECTION 2. The funds appropriated under the provisions of 11
Section 1 of this act are authorized for the following purposes: 12
(a) To defray costs of improvements to the Emergency 13
Management services; 14
(b) To defray costs of renovation, restoration or 15
replacement of infrastructure related to housing, health services, 16
transportation improvements, and business and industry 17
initiatives; 18

(c) To defray costs of developing the Sharkey County 19
Industrial Park; and 20
(d) To defray costs of workforce development 21
initiatives. 22
SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 23
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund 24
not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State 25
Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or 26
her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, 27
officer or officers in the manner provided by law. 28
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from 29
and after July 1, 2026. 30
