SENATE BILL NO. 2179

AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE TOWN OF PICKENS, 1
MISSISSIPPI, FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE COSTS ASSOCIATED 2
WITH CERTAIN INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2027. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 4
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be 5
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General 6
Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Town of Pickens, 7
Mississippi, for the purpose of defraying the costs associated 8
with certain infrastructure projects for the fiscal year beginning 9
July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027................ $ 760,000.00 10
SECTION 2. Of the funds appropriated under Section 1, the 11
following amounts are to be allocated as follows: 12
To defray costs of resurfacing and repairing roadways and 13
repairing sewer pipes in the Union Street area........ $ 300,000.00 14
To defray costs of acquiring new water pumps as well as 15
repairing and improving water systems, including the booster 16
station on State Highway 17........................... $ 300,000.00 17

To defray costs of renovating, repairing and improving the 18
old city hall on Yazoo Street......................... $ 60,000.00 19
To defray costs of renovating, repairing, improving and 20
equipping a city park................................. $ 100,000.00 21
SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 22
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund 23
not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State 24
Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or 25
her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, 26
officer or officers in the manner provided by law. 27
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from 28
and after July 1, 2026. 29
