BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 5
SECTION 1. The following shall be codified as Section 6
75-35-35, Mississippi Code of 1972: 7
75-35-35. The following requirements must be satisfied to 8
qualify for the custom slaughter exemption of cattle, sheep, swine 9
and goats: 10
(a) Livestock producers must allow customers to inspect 11
and choose their animal, if they so desire; 12
(b) Animals presented to a licensed slaughter plant may 13
have multiple owners; 14
(c) Sale and/or purchase of the animal must be 15
completed before slaughter of the animal; 16
(d) The name, address and telephone number of each 17
owner must be provided to the slaughter plant before slaughter; 18
(e) All of the meat must be stamped "Not for Sale"; 19

(f) The price of the animal may be calculated per head 20
or live weight, but not dressed weight or final weight of the 21
meat; and 22
(g) The meat food products produced under this 23
exemption shall be exclusively for the use of the owner(s) and 24
members of their household and their nonpaying guests and 25
employees. 26
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 27
and after July 1, 2026, and shall stand repealed on June 30, 2026. 28
