AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE DIVISION OF MEDICAID FROM COLLECTING 1
OR TAKING ANY STEPS TO COLLECT MONIES OWED DUE TO OVERPAYMENTS 2
RECEIVED DURING THE 2024 FISCAL YEAR FROM A HOSPITAL IN GREENWOOD 3
UNTIL AFTER MAY 1, 2026, IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT ACCESS TO 4
CRITICAL HEALTH CARE SERVICES WILL NOT BE ERODED OR ELIMINATED FOR 5
CENTRAL AND EASTERN REGIONS OF THE MISSISSIPPI DELTA; AND FOR 6
RELATED PURPOSES. 7
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 8
SECTION 1. In order to ensure that access to critical health 9
care services will not be eroded or eliminated for residents and 10
nonresidents within the central and eastern regions of the 11
Mississippi Delta, the Division of Medicaid shall not collect or 12
take any steps to collect monies owed due to overpayments received 13
during the 2024 fiscal year from a hospital in Greenwood until 14
after May 1, 2026. 15
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 16
and after its passage. 17
