AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF DISASTER ASSISTANCE TRUST FUNDS TO THE MISSISSIPPI EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY FOR THE PURPOSES OF DEFRAYING EXPENSES RELATED TO THE STATE OBLIGATIONS FOR DISASTER RESPONSE AND RECOVERY, INCLUDING THE SEVERE WEATHER EVENT BEGINNING ON JANUARY 24, 2026, FOR THE PERIOD BEGINNING UPON PASSAGE OF THIS ACT, AND ENDING JUNE 30, 2027.

AN ACT MAKING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF DISASTER 1
ASSISTANCE TRUST FUNDS TO THE MISSISSIPPI EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 2
AGENCY FOR THE PURPOSES OF DEFRAYING EXPENSES RELATED TO THE STATE 3
OBLIGATIONS FOR DISASTER RESPONSE AND RECOVERY, INCLUDING THE 4
SEVERE WEATHER EVENT BEGINNING ON JANUARY 24, 2026, FOR THE PERIOD 5
BEGINNING UPON PASSAGE OF THIS ACT, AND ENDING JUNE 30, 2027. 6
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 7
SECTION 1. In addition to all other sums appropriated to the 8
agency, the following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, 9
is appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury to the 10
credit of the Disaster Assistance Trust Fund not otherwise 11
appropriated, to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency for 12
the purposes of defraying expenses related to the state 13
obligations for disaster response and recovery, including the 14
severe weather event beginning on January 24, 2026, for the period 15
beginning upon passage of this act, and ending June 30, 2027...... 16

SECTION 2. It is the intent of the Legislature that this 18
additional appropriation is for the purpose of defraying expenses 19

of the agency related to the state obligations for disaster 20
response and recovery authorized under the Disaster Assistance 21
Trust Fund, including the severe weather event beginning on 22
January 24, 2026. 23
SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 24
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the Disaster Assistance 25
Trust Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the 26
State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his 27
or her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, 28
officer or officers in the manner provided by law. 29
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from 30
and after passage. 31
