AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF 1
TRANSPORTATION FOR THE TOWN OF GUNNISON FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING 2
COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF A LIGHTED, ASPHALT WALKING 3
TRAIL FOR FISCAL YEAR 2027. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 5
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be 6
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General 7
Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Mississippi Department of 8
Transportation for the Town of Gunnison, Mississippi, for the 9
purpose of defraying costs associated with the construction of a 10
lighted, asphalt walking trail for the fiscal year beginning July 11
1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027..................... $ 65,550.00. 12
SECTION 2. It is the intent of the Legislature that the funds 13
appropriated in Section 1 of this act shall be provided for 14
matching funds to draw down federal funds under the Transportation 15
Alternatives Program administered by the Mississippi Department of 16
Transportation. 17
SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 18
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund 19

not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State 20
Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or 21
her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, 22
officer or officers in the manner provided by law. 23
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from 24
and after July 1, 2026. 25
