SENATE BILL NO. 3221
AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING 1
SALARIES AND TRAVEL EXPENSES OF ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEYS AND 2
PAYING OFFICE EXPENSES OF THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY WITHIN THE SIXTH 3
CIRCUIT COURT DISTRICT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2027. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 5
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much thereof as may be 6
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General 7
Fund not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of paying 8
salaries and travel expenses of assistant district attorneys and 9
paying office expenses of the district attorney within the Sixth 10
Circuit Court District for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, 11
and ending June 30, 2027............................. $ 574,272.00. 12
SECTION 2. It is the intent of the Legislature that the 13
funds appropriated under Section 1 of this act, or so much thereof 14
as may be necessary, are provided for three (3) full-time 15
assistant district attorneys for the Sixth Circuit Court District. 16
SECTION 3. None of the funds authorized in this act shall be 17
used to reimburse the district attorney of The Sixth Circuit Court 18

assistant district attorneys within the Sixth
Circuit Court District.
District or his staff for taxable meals incurred within the Sixth 19
Circuit Court District. 20
SECTION 4. Of the funds appropriated in Section 1 of this 21
act, Twelve Thousand Dollars ($12,000.00) is provided for office 22
expenses of district attorneys as authorized by Section 25-31-8, 23
Mississippi Code of 1972. 24
SECTION 5. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 25
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund 26
not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State 27
Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his 28
warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or 29
officers, in the manner provided by law. 30
SECTION 6. This act shall take effect and be in force from 31
and after July 1, 2026. 32
