SENATE BILL NO. 3294
AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF SPECIAL FUNDS TO THE 1
MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT SECURITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF 2
FUNDING SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE STATE FOR 3
THE FISCAL YEAR 2027. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 5
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be 6
necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State Treasury 7
to the credit of the Mississippi Department of Employment Security 8
not otherwise appropriated, to the department for the purpose of 9
funding Summer Youth Employment Programs throughout the state for 10
the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027 11

SECTION 2. It is the intent of the Legislature that 13
twenty-five (25) high school students from Mound Bayou be employed 14
by programs funded pursuant to this act. 15
SECTION 3. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid 16
by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State Treasury to 17
the credit of the Mississippi Department of Employment Security 18
not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State 19

ST: Special funds; FY2027 appropriation to MDES
for funding Summer Youth Employment Programs.
Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or 20
her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, 21
officer or officers in the manner provided by law. 22
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from 23
and after July 1, 2026. 24
