AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF PRENTISS 1
COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO LEVY AN ASSESSMENT, IN ADDITION TO ANY 2
OTHER ASSESSMENTS AND COURT COSTS, FOR CONVICTIONS OBTAINED IN ITS 3
JUSTICE, COUNTY AND CIRCUIT COURTS, TO BE USED TO FUND REPAIRS, 4
MAINTENANCE AND RENOVATIONS OF THE HISTORIC PRENTISS COUNTY 5
COURTHOUSE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 6
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 7
SECTION 1. (1) The Board of Supervisors of Prentiss County, 8
Mississippi, in its discretion, is authorized, by resolution duly 9
adopted, to levy an assessment, in addition to any other 10
assessments and court costs, on convictions obtained in the 11
Justice Court, County Court and Circuit Court of Prentiss County, 12
as follows: 13
(a) An amount not to exceed Twenty-five Dollars 14
($25.00) on each conviction obtained in the Justice Court, County 15
Court and Circuit Court of Prentiss County, except for convictions 16
for driving under the influence; and 17
(b) An amount not to exceed Fifty Dollars ($50.00) on 18
each conviction obtained for driving under the influence of 19
alcohol or any other substance which has impaired the person's 20

ability to operate a motor vehicle, pursuant to Section 63-11-30, 21
Mississippi Code of 1972. 22
(2) The avails of the additional assessment imposed under 23
subsection (1) of this section shall be expended by the Board of 24
Supervisors of Prentiss County to fund repairs, maintenance and 25
renovations of the historic Prentiss County Courthouse, which is 26
designated as a Mississippi Landmark. 27
(3) This section shall be repealed from and after July 1, 28
2030. 29
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 30
and after its passage. 31
