SENATE BILL NO. 3391
AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF FORREST 1
COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO PURCHASE RADAR SPEED DETECTION EQUIPMENT 2
FOR USE BY THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT OF THE COUNTY IN THE 3
ENFORCEMENT OF SPEED LIMITS ON THE ROADS AND STATE HIGHWAYS OF THE 4
COUNTY OUTSIDE THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF ANY INCORPORATED 5
MUNICIPALITY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 6
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI: 7
SECTION 1. The Board of Supervisors of Forrest County, 8
Mississippi, is authorized, in its power, to expend, out of any 9
available funds of the county, for the purchase of radar speed 10
detection equipment. Such expenditure may be in an amount that 11
the board determines is sufficient, and such purchase shall be for 12
use by the sheriff's department. If the board of supervisors 13
authorizes the expenditure of funds for this purpose, then the 14
Sheriff of Forrest County and any duly sworn deputy sheriff of the 15
county may operate and use the equipment to enforce the motor 16
vehicle speed limits on any public county road or state highway 17
that is located outside the corporate limits of any incorporated 18
municipality. The sheriff shall ensure that all radar speed 19
detection equipment is properly certified, calibrated and operated 20

in compliance with applicable state law, training standards and 21
evidentiary requirements. 22
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from 23
and after its passage. 24
