A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO THE 1
MISSISSIPPI CONSTITUTION OF 1890 TO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF TERMS A 2
PERSON MAY SERVE IN THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND 3
THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 4
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF 5
MISSISSIPPI, That the following amendment to the Mississippi 6
Constitution of 1890 is proposed to the qualified electors of the 7
state: 8
Amend the Mississippi Constitution of 1890 by creating a new 9
section to read as follows: 10
Section ____. A person may serve no more than two (2) 11
successive terms in the Mississippi House of Representatives and 12
in the Mississippi Senate. Four (4) years after the expiration of 13
the second term, a person may be elected again to the other house 14
for two (2) terms, but shall not serve more than a total of 15
sixteen (16) years. 16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this proposed amendment shall be 17
submitted by the Secretary of State to the qualified electors at 18
an election to be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday 19

of November 2026, as provided by Section 273 of the Constitution 20
and by general law. 21
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the explanation of this proposed 22
amendment for the ballot shall read as follows: "This proposed 23
constitutional amendment limits members of the Mississippi House 24
of Representatives and the Mississippi Senate to two (2) 25
successive terms. Four (4) years after the expiration of the 26
second term, a person may be elected again to the other house for 27
two (2) more terms, but shall not serve more than a total of 28
sixteen (16) years between the two (2) houses." 29
