UNIVERSITY, FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE TEAM'S 7

WHEREAS, on February 8, 2026, the Seattle Seahawks defeated 9
the New England Patriots by a score of 29-13 in Super Bowl LX at 10
Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, securing the 11
franchise's second Super Bowl Championship; and 12
WHEREAS, this historic victory showcases exceptional talent, 13
determination, and teamwork, with several key contributors proudly 14
hailing from the State of Mississippi or having strong connections 15
to its institutions of higher education; and 16
WHEREAS, Derick Hall, a native of Gulfport, Mississippi, and 17
standout linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks, played a pivotal 18
role in the championship game, recording two sacks, including a 19
game-changing strip sack, and demonstrating remarkable resilience, 20

having overcome tremendous odds from birth with only a 1% chance 21
of survival; and 22
WHEREAS, Charles Cross, a native of Laurel, Mississippi, and 23
former standout offensive lineman at Mississippi State University, 24
anchored the Seahawks' offensive line as the starting left tackle, 25
playing every snap in the Super Bowl victory and protecting the 26
quarterback throughout the dominant performance; and 27
WHEREAS, Cam Akers, a native of Clinton, Mississippi, 28
contributed to the Seahawks' roster during the season and was 29
elevated for the Super Bowl, adding his experience as a two-time 30
champion (having previously won Super Bowl LVI) to the team's 31
success; and 32
WHEREAS, Christopher "Pooh" Paul, Jr., contributed as a 33
linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks. After the 2023 season, he 34
entered the transfer portal and transferred to the University of 35
Mississippi. Paul Jr. was a starter in his first season at Ole 36
Miss in 2024, where he was named to the All-SEC second team and 37
selected by USA Today to their All-America first team. On August 38
28, 2025, Paul signed with the Seattle Seahawks practice squad. 39
On February 12, 2026, he signed a reserve/futures contract; and 40
WHEREAS, Allister Edward "A.J." Finley, Jr., contributed as a 41
safety for the Seattle Seahawks. Finley played four years at Ole 42
Miss and recorded 244 tackles, 8.5 being for a loss, eight 43
interceptions, 13 pass deflections, four fumble recoveries, two 44
forced fumbles, and a touchdown. On November 26, 2024, Finley was 45

claimed off waivers by the Seattle Seahawks and was placed on 46
injured reserve on August 5, 2025; and 47
WHEREAS, Jared Gavin Ivey contributed as a linebacker for the 48
Seattle Seahawks. After the 2021 season, he transferred to the 49
University of Mississippi. In his first year at Ole Miss in 2022, 50
Ivey played in 13 games with seven starts and had 37 tackles and 51
3.5 sacks. In 2023, he started 12 of 13 games and had 46 tackles 52
with 5.5 sacks and was named the Defensive MVP of the 2023 Peach 53
Bowl; and 54
WHEREAS, Coach Leslie Frazier, with deep roots in Columbia, 55
Mississippi, and an alumnus of Alcorn State University, served as 56
the Assistant Head Coach for the Seattle Seahawks, providing 57
invaluable leadership, defensive expertise, and guidance that were 58
critical to the team's journey to and triumph in Super Bowl LX, 59
marking his third Super Bowl ring across his storied career as a 60
player and coach; and 61
WHEREAS, these individuals exemplify the talent, 62
perseverance, and spirit that Mississippi produces, bringing 63
immense pride to their hometowns, alma maters, and the entire 64
state through their achievements on the national stage: 65
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 66
MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That 67
we do hereby commend and congratulate Derick Hall of Gulfport; 68
Charles Cross of Laurel and Mississippi State University; Cam 69
Akers of Clinton; Chris Paul, Jr., Linebacker at Ole Miss; A.J. 70
