LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF TERMS THAT A PERSON MAY BE ELECTED AS A 7
MEMBER OF THE UNITED STATES SENATE. 8
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi hereby 9
makes an application to Congress, as provided by Article V of the 10
Constitution of the United States of America, to call a convention 11
limited to proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the 12
United States of America to set a limit on the number of terms 13
that a person may be elected as a member of the United States 14
House of Representatives and to set a limit on the number of terms 15
that a person may be elected as a member of the United States 16
Senate. 17
WHEREAS, the Secretary of State is hereby directed to 18
transmit copies of this application to the President and Secretary 19
of the Senate of the United States and to the Speaker, Clerk and 20
Judiciary Committee Chairman of the House of Representatives of 21

the Congress of the United States, and copies to the members of 22
the said Senate and House of Representatives from this state; also 23
to transmit copies hereof to the presiding officers of each of the 24
legislative houses in the several states, requesting their 25
cooperation. 26
WHEREAS, this application shall be considered as covering the 27
same subject matter as the applications from other states to 28
Congress to call a convention to set a limit on the number of 29
terms that a person may be elected to the House of Representatives 30
of the Congress of the United States and the Senate of the United 31
States; and this application shall be aggregated with same for the 32
purpose of attaining the two-thirds (2/3) of states necessary to 33
require Congress to call a limited convention on this subject, but 34
shall not be aggregated with any other applications on any other 35
subject. 36
WHEREAS, this application constitutes a continuing 37
application in accordance with Article V of the Constitution of 38
the United States of America until the Legislatures of at least 39
two-thirds (2/3) of the several states have made applications on 40
the same subject. 41
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES 42
OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That the 43
Legislature of the State of Mississippi applies to Congress, under 44
the provisions of Article V of the Constitution of the United 45
States, for the calling of a convention of the states, limited to 46
