A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PARTICIPANTS IN THE 1
CRIME VICTIMS SURVIVORS PROGRAM AND RECOGNIZING MARCH 11, 2026, AS 2
"CRIME SURVIVORS SPEAK MISSISSIPPI DAY" AT THE MISSISSIPPI STATE 3
CAPITOL. 4
WHEREAS, on March 11, 2026, more than 150 crime victims and 5
survivors from across the State of Mississippi will gather at the 6
Mississippi State Capitol for "Crime Survivors Speak Mississippi 7
Day 2026"; and 8
WHEREAS, this gathering provides an opportunity for survivors 9
to unite in healing, elevate their voices, and advocate for 10
policies that advance safety and justice; and 11
WHEREAS, Crime Survivors Speak Mississippi is committed to 12
elevating survivor leadership and ensuring that public safety 13
policies reflect the lived experiences of those most impacted by 14
violence; and 15
WHEREAS, crime affects individuals and communities throughout 16
Mississippi, and survivors often face significant barriers to 17
accessing trauma recovery services, financial support, and 18
long-term stability; and 19

Day."
WHEREAS, increased investment in trauma-informed services, 20
victim compensation access, and community-based prevention 21
strategies is essential to improving outcomes for survivors and 22
families; and 23
WHEREAS, survivors bring critical insight to discussions of 24
public safety, victim services, and criminal justice reform and 25
should be included as key stakeholders in policy development; and 26
WHEREAS, many survivors do not receive the assistance they 27
need and benefit from policies that strengthen prevention, 28
rehabilitation, accountability, and healing-centered responses: 29
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 30
MISSISSIPPI, that the Senate recognizes March 11, 2026, as "Crime 31
Survivors Speak Mississippi Day" at the Mississippi State Capitol.32
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Senate commends the 33
survivors, advocates, and community leaders participating in 34
"Crime Survivors Speak Mississippi 2026" for their commitment to 35
advancing healing, safety, and justice across the state. 36
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 37
Crime Survivors Speak Mississippi in recognition of this event, 38
and made available to the Capitol Press Corps. 39
