SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 537
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MR. PATRICK R. 1
WILCHER FOR BEING SELECTED AS "INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR" AT THE 2
PERKINSTON CAMPUS OF MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE. 3
WHEREAS, Mr. Patrick Wilcher, a resident of Gulfport, 4
Mississippi, has been selected as "Instructor of the Year" at the 5
Perkinston Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 6
recognition of his distinguished service to the college; and 7
WHEREAS, the prestigious award was established by the Alumni 8
Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor 9
instructors, and the recipient of the award is chosen from 10
nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on 11
the basis of his or her teaching excellence, college service, 12
community service and professional development; and 13
WHEREAS, Mr. Patrick Wilcher, a Department Chair and 14
Mathematics Instructor has been employed at Mississippi Gulf Coast 15
Community College for the past nineteen years; and 16
WHEREAS, dedicated to academic excellence, Mr. Patrick 17
Wilcher received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and a 18

ST: Commend Patrick Wilcher as "Instructor of
the Year" at the Perkinston Campus of MGCCC.
Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the 19
University of Mississippi; and 20
WHEREAS, Patrick Wilcher has worked as a graduate assistant 21
for the University of Mississippi, a mathematics teacher at 22
Richland High School, an adjunct mathematics instructor for the 23
University of Tennessee-Southern prior to his career as a 24
Mathematics Instructor and Department Chair for the School of 25
Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, and Information Technology 26
at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; and 27
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize and commend 28
such an outstanding teacher as Mr. Wilcher, who has dedicated his 29
career to teaching the students of the State of Mississippi: 30
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 31
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. 32
Patrick Wilcher for being selected as "Instructor of the Year" at 33
the Perkinston Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College 34
and extend to him our sincere wishes for success in all his future 35
endeavors. 36
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 37
Mr. Patrick Wilcher, forwarded to the President of Mississippi 38
Gulf Coast Community College and made available to the Capitol 39
Press Corps. 40
