SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 103
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHWEST 1
MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE DANCE TEAM FOR WINNING A NATIONAL 2
CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE 2026 UDA COLLEGE NATIONALS AND CONTINUING A 3
CHAMPIONSHIP LEGACY WITH A THREE-PEAT VICTORY IN THE OPEN HIP-HOP 4
DIVISION. 5
WHEREAS, the Northwest Mississippi Community College Dance 6
Team, under the leadership of Head Coach Patrice Christian, has 7
once again demonstrated elite skill and ability by earning top 8
national honors at the 2026 Universal Dance Association (UDA) 9
College Dance Team National Championships in Orlando, Florida; and 10
WHEREAS, at this year's national competition, the Northwest 11
Dance Team captured a first place victory in the Open Hip-Hop 12
division, securing their third consecutive championship title in 13
the division and establishing a historic three-peat triumph at the 14
national level; and 15
WHEREAS, the Northwest Dance Team also earned a third place 16
national finish in the Open Game Day Dance division, showcasing 17
versatility, depth and talent in a highly competitive national 18
field; and 19

WHEREAS, the key to this dynamic team's championship success 20
has been the countless hours of preparation, discipline, 21
sportsmanship and dedication of each team member, culminating in 22
exceptional routines that exemplify the highest standards of 23
collegiate athletics and artistic performance; and 24
WHEREAS, guided by the vision and leadership of Head Coach 25
Patrice Christian, the Northwest Mississippi Community College 26
Dance program has earned three national championships in the past 27
four years, marking a period of unprecedented achievement and a 28
rapid ascent to national prominence; and 29
WHEREAS, the Northwest Dance Team roster represents a diverse 30
and gifted group of student-athletes from across Mississippi and 31
neighboring states, reflecting the broad reach, appeal and 32
competitive spirit of the program; and 33
WHEREAS, the continued success of the Northwest Dance Team is 34
made possible through the unwavering support of the team's 35
coaches, families, college administration and the entire Northwest 36
Ranger community; and 37
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize and commend 38
excellence in collegiate athletics, especially that displayed by 39
the Northwest Mississippi Community College Dance Team, whose 40
accomplished members bring distinction, honor and national 41
recognition to their institution and to the State of Mississippi: 42
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 43
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 44

ST: Commend Northwest Mississippi Community
College Dance Team upon winning a national dance
championship.
Northwest Mississippi Community College Dance Team for winning a 45
national championship at the 2026 Universal Dance Association 46
(UDA) College Nationals and continuing a championship legacy, 47
including a three-peat national title in the Open Hip-Hop 48
division, and extend our best wishes for continued success in all 49
future competitions and endeavors. 50
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 51
Head Coach Patrice Christian and Northwest Mississippi Community 52
College President Dr. Michael Heindl, forwarded to the Board of 53
Trustees of Northwest Mississippi Community College, and be made 54
available to the Capitol Press Corps. 55
