SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 104
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHWEST 1
MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE CHEER TEAM FOR ITS MULTIPLE NATIONAL 2
CHAMPIONSHIPS AND CONTINUED EXCELLENCE AT THE 2026 UCA AND UDA 3
COLLEGE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA. 4
WHEREAS, the Northwest Mississippi Community College Cheer 5
Team, under the leadership of Head Coach Brandon Casey and 6
Assistant Coach Rainy Bordelon, has once again demonstrated elite 7
competitive excellence by earning multiple top finishes at the 8
2026 UCA and UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National 9
Championships, held in Orlando, Florida; and 10
WHEREAS, at the 2026 national competition, the Northwest 11
Cheer Team captured 1st place in the Open Co-Ed Game Day division, 12
securing a back-to-back national championship in the division and 13
reaffirming the program's dominance on the national stage; and 14
WHEREAS, the Northwest Cheer Team also earned a 1st place 15
finish in the Open All-Girl Cheer division, achieving a three-peat 16
national championship, an extraordinary accomplishment that 17
reflects sustained excellence, discipline, and competitive 18
consistency; and 19

WHEREAS, the team further added to its national success by 20
earning a 1st place finish in the Open Small Coed Cheer division, 21
showcasing depth, versatility, and talent across the program; and 22
WHEREAS, the Northwest Cheer Team also recorded a 2nd place 23
national finish in the Open All-Girl Game Day division, 24
demonstrating the team's ability to compete at the highest level 25
across multiple competitive formats; and 26
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Brandon Casey, 27
the Northwest Mississippi Community College Cheer program has now 28
achieved nine national championships, establishing itself as one 29
of the most successful collegiate cheer programs in the nation; 30
and 31
WHEREAS, the achievements of the Northwest Cheer Team reflect 32
the hard work, dedication, teamwork, and character of its 33
student-athletes, while bringing significant pride and recognition 34
to Northwest Mississippi Community College and to the State of 35
Mississippi; and 36
WHEREAS, the continued success of the Northwest Cheer Team is 37
a testament to the unwavering support of its coaches, families, 38
college administration and the entire Northwest Ranger community; 39
and 40
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize and commend 41
excellence in collegiate athletics, particularly when 42
student-athletes bring distinction, honor, and national 43
recognition to their institution and to the State of Mississippi: 44

ST: Commend Northwest Mississippi Community
College Cheer Team for achievements at the 2026
UCA and UDA College National Championships.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 45
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 46
Northwest Mississippi Community College Cheer Team for its 47
multiple national championships and continued excellence at the 48
2026 UCA and UDA College National Championships, including 49
back-to-back and three-peat national championship performances, 50
and extend best wishes for continued success in all future 51
competitions. 52
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 53
Head Coach Brandon Casey, Assistant Coach Rainy Bordelon, 54
Northwest Mississippi Community College President Dr. Michael 55
Heindl, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps. 56
