SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 105
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE OLE MISS 1
WOMEN'S RIFLE TEAM AND FIRST-YEAR COACH WILL SHANER FOR WINNING 2
THEIR FIRST-EVER NCAA TEAM TITLE IN SMALLBORE AND TEAM MEMBER 3
AUDREY GOGNIAT FOR DEFENDING HER AIR RIFLE INDIVIDUAL TITLE. 4
WHEREAS, for the first time in program history, the Ole Miss' 5
fifth-ranked women's rifle team claimed team gold in the Smallbore 6
Rifle event at the NCAA Tournament in Columbus, Ohio, on March 13, 7
2026; and 8
WHEREAS, this was the first time the Rebels (10-2, 5-2 PRC) 9
finished first in either event at the national tournament. By 10
winning the gold in smallbore, Ole Miss finished in each spot of 11
the podium since 2021, finishing second in 2022-2023 and third in 12
2020-2021. First-year Head Coach Will Shaner has done what no Ole 13
Miss rifle coach has done by getting the Rebels in the 14
competition; and 15
WHEREAS, the No. 5 Ole Miss Rifle Team finished third overall 16
at the 2026 NCAA Rifle Championship with a 4738 aggregate score. 17
The Rebels secured their first-ever NCAA team title in smallbore 18
on the first day and saw Audrey Gogniat defend her air rifle 19

individual title, marking one of the best finishes in program 20
history; and 21
WHEREAS, the Key 2026 Championship Highlights: Overall 22
Finish, 3rd place (4,738 aggregate); Smallbore Championship, 1st 23
place (Team Smallbore Title, 2,356 score); and Air Rifle, Audrey 24
Gogniat (Individual National Champion, 600 perfect score). The 25
team, led by Coach Will Shaner, completed a historic season, 26
including winning the program's first team gold in any discipline 27
at the NCAA tournament; and 28
WHEREAS, Gracie Dinh and Audrey Gogniat led the way for the 29
Rebels, scoring 593 and 592, respectively, both earning a spot in 30
the final round of individual action. Ole Miss was one of three 31
programs to have two athletes competing in the final round of 32
competition, as well as two athletes with scores north of 590. 33
Gogniat is the first Rebel to ever medal in smallbore at the 34
national tournament, as she has now collected two in her career as 35
only a sophomore. Dinh finished eighth, marking the highest 36
placement of her collegiate career. Dinh stole the show in the 37
second relay with a 593 performance. She did one better than 38
Gogniat by having a 399 through 40 shots, missing a bullseye only 39
once. She finished the day with a 593 in the event to punch her 40
ticket to the individual medal round. Her score was tied for the 41
third best of the entire field for the day in the 60-shot round. 42
Jordan de Jesus would finish with a 583, securing Ole Miss' top 43
spot in the standings after day one; and 44

ST: Commend Ole Miss Rifle Team for first-ever
National Smoothbore Championship.
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these 45
student-athletes whose special skill has brought honor to their 46
University and to the State of Mississippi: 47
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 48
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Ole 49
Miss Women's Rifle Team and first-year Coach Will Shaner for 50
winning their first-ever NCAA Team Title in smallbore and team 51
member Audrey Gogniat for defending her air rifle individual title 52
and extend to the team, coaches and their families our best wishes 53
for future success. 54
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 55
Coach Will Shaner and Audrey Gogniat for the team, forwarded to 56
Athletic Director Keith Carter and be made available to the 57
Capitol Press Corps. 58
