SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 11

A RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE RECOGNITION AND THANKS OF THE 1
MISSISSIPPI SENATE TO ANN ALEXANDER, BOARD OF DIRECTORS, FRIENDS 2
OF MISSISSIPPI VETERANS, FOR HER TIRELESS DEDICATION AND SERVICE 3
TO THE VETERANS OF MISSISSIPPI AND HER LASTING IMPACT ON THE 4
VETERANS IN OUR STATE. 5
WHEREAS, in 2008, Ann Alexander answered the call to assist 6
in the formation of "Friends of Mississippi Veterans," a group 7
dedicated to supporting the Mississippi State Veterans Affairs 8
Board in its plans to construct the Mississippi Veterans Memorial 9
Cemetery in Newton, Mississippi; and 10
WHEREAS, Ann's initial role as Secretary and Treasurer of 11
Friends of Mississippi Veterans played a significant part in the 12
organization's success and achievements; and 13
WHEREAS, Ann has given unselfishly of her time, talents and 14
resources, not only to this initial cemetery project, but also to 15
the Mississippi Veterans Home System; and 16
WHEREAS, the Mississippi Veterans Administration has 17
acknowledged Ann Alexander's unfailing support of Mississippi 18
Veterans; and 19

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we join the Mississippi 20
Veterans Administration in honoring Ann's dedication, expertise 21
and commitment to veterans which have made a lasting impact on our 22
state and the veterans community: 23
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 24
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby extend the recognition and thanks 25
of the Mississippi Senate to Ann Alexander, Board of Directors, 26
Friends of Mississippi Veterans, for her tireless dedication and 27
service to the veterans of Mississippi and her lasting impact on 28
the veterans in our state. 29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 30
Ann Alexander and representatives of Friends of Mississippi 31
Veterans, forwarded to the Mississippi Veterans Administration and 32
be made available to the Capitol Press Corps. 33
