SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 115

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2025 EAST 1
RANKIN ACADEMY LADY PATRIOTS GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM AND COACH 2
DAVID HOPPER FOR THEIR 5TH CONSECUTIVE MAIS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 3
WHEREAS, on October 29, 2025, the East Rankin Academy Lady 4
Patriots Girls Cross Country Team won their fifth consecutive MAIS 5
Class 4A State Championship at Choctaw Trails; and 6
WHEREAS, the Lady Patriots finished off a very competitive 7
season. This win comes under the inaugural new classification 8
system that pairs ERA with the much larger former 6A schools, 9
collectively competing under the MAIS 4A grouping. Finishing 10
first overall, the Lady Patriots were named the MAIS 4A, Division 11
I champion, followed by Madison Ridgeland Academy (second overall 12
and named the Division II champion), Simpson Academy, and Oak 13
Forest Academy, rounding out the top four teams; and 14
WHEREAS, the East Rankin Academy 2025 Cross County State 15
Championship Roster: Jewel Baker, Caroline Thornton, Isabella 16
McLeod, Alex Burkard, Chandler Hunt, Hadley Erickson, Emma Raines, 17

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these 20
student-athletes who have brought honor to their school, their 21
community and to the State of Mississippi: 22
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 23
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2025 24
East Rankin Academy Lady Patriots Girls Cross Country Team and 25
Coach David Hopper for their 5th consecutive MAIS 4A State 26
Championship and extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors 27
our best wishes for future championships. 28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 29
Coach David Hopper and East Rankin Academy Head of School Robyn 30
Winstead for the team, forwarded to the East Rankin Academy Board 31
of Trustees and made available to the Capitol Press Corps. 32
