SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 116
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE RALEIGH HIGH 1
SCHOOL LIONS FOOTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH RYAN HIGDON FOR WINNING 2
THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) CLASS 3
3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 4
WHEREAS, on December 6, 2025, fans crowded Davis Wade Stadium 5
in Starkville, Mississippi, to watch the Raleigh High School Lions 6
Football Team win the Mississippi High School Activities 7
Association (MHSAA) Class 3A State Championship, clinching the 8
championship title in a 12-6 victory over Noxubee County; and 9
WHEREAS, both of Raleigh's touchdowns were scored by senior 10
Jamarcus McCullum, and the quarterback and linebacker was 11
deservedly given the MVP title for the championship game; and 12
WHEREAS, rallied by the support of their fans and their 13
coaches, the Lions successfully stopped Noxubee County on multiple 14
pass attempts and rushes in the red zone with four seconds 15
remaining to secure the win; and 16
WHEREAS, the Lions have earned a reputation for greatness 17
over the last four years, and after winning their first state 18
championship in 2022, the team has continued to build on their 19

extraordinary efforts to achieve victory once again, closing the 20
season with an outstanding record of 14-1; and 21
WHEREAS, the 2025-2026 Raleigh High School Lions Football 22

Deon Fairley, as well as the team's filmers, Holden Buffington and 36
Kylen Smith; and 37
WHEREAS, this team has been superbly coached and inspired by 38
Head Coach Ryan Higdon and Assistant Coaches Jared Smith, Larry 39
Means, La-Dean Byrd and Ronald Smith, who have broadened the 40
players' knowledge of the sport and refined their skills in 41
execution; and 42
WHEREAS, the members of this team will surely carry the 43
unforgettable memories they have made, as well as the lessons of 44

teamwork, dedication and perseverance they have learned, 45
throughout their lives as they remember the feeling of 46
accomplishment that accompanies being a champion; and 47
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we congratulate the 48
members of this elite team, who have brought honor and pride to 49
their school, their community and the State of Mississippi: 50
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 51
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 52
Raleigh High School Football Team and Head Coach Ryan Higdon upon 53
winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) 54
Class 3A State Championship, and extend best wishes to the team 55
for continued success in all their future endeavors. 56
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 57
Head Coach Ryan Higdon and Principal Morris Cascio for the Raleigh 58
High School Football Team, forwarded to the Smith County Board of 59
Education, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps. 60
