SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 12
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 2025 1
BROOKHAVEN HIGH SCHOOL PANTHERS FOOTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH 2
DARIEN DORSEY FOR WINNING THEIR FIRST CLASS 5A STATE TITLE SINCE 3

WHEREAS, the Brookhaven High School Panthers won the 2025 5
MHSAA Class 5A Football State Championship defeating West Point 6
31-19 on December 4, 2025, under first-year coach Darien Dorsey at 7
Mississippi State's stadium, marking their first state title since 8
2004, and ending West Point's hopes for a three-peat; and 9
WHEREAS, the Panthers overcame a deficit and four fumbles in 10
the first half, dominating the second half for their second-ever 11
championship; and 12
WHEREAS, Brookhaven scored 21 unanswered points in the third 13
quarter to defeat West Point 31–19. West Point opened the scoring 14
on a 57-yard touchdown pass and extended the lead to 12–0 midway 15
through the second. Brookhaven got on the board with a 24-yard 16
field goal by Isaac Iles at 4:46 of the second quarter, then cut 17
the deficit to 12–10 on a 51-yard touchdown run by Jaden Allen 18
with 2:10 remaining in the half; and 19

WHEREAS, Brookhaven took control in the third quarter. Allen 20
hit Dreamus Harron for a 57-yard touchdown at 9:51, narrowing the 21
margin to 19–17. Caiden Quarles followed with a 19-yard touchdown 22
run at the 4:01 mark to put Brookhaven ahead. Jeremy Bibbs 23
extended the lead to 31–19 with a 24-yard interception return for 24
a touchdown with 2:26 left in the third; and 25
WHEREAS, Brookhaven finished with 318 total yards, including 26
210 rushing yards. Quarles led the Panthers with 138 yards on 21 27
carries. Harron had 57 receiving yards on his touchdown catch. 28
Hampton Smith led Brookhaven defensively with 20 tackles, while 29
Damarvion Haughton recorded seven tackles for West Point; and 30

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these 52
student-athletes who have brought honor to their school, their 53
community and to the State of Mississippi: 54
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF 55
MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 2025 56
Brookhaven High School Panthers Football Team and Head Coach 57
Darien Dorsey for winning their first Class 5A State Title since 58
2004 and extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors our 59
best wishes for continued state championships. 60
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to 61
Head Coach Darien Dorsey for the team, forwarded to Brookhaven 62
High School Principal Shonique McLaurin and the Brookhaven High 63
School Board of Trustees, and made available to the Capitol Press 64
Corps. 65
